So many threads on which oil to use, so little agreement. On my 2002 model, the oil filler cap has language plainly imprinted to the effect of: "API SJ SAE 10W-30." Perhaps that statement is new for the 2002 model year. Anyway, Honda has now put it there, and those words are as sacred as if carried down on tablets of stone by Moses from Mount Sinai. There now, have I successfully ended this entire debate?

I don't think there is a debate. The owner's manual states 10W-30. And it states not to use synthetic until at least after 7500 miles.

 

Use Mobil 1 10W-30 after the first oil change at 7500 miles.

 

That wasn't always the case. The earlier owners manuals told you to use 5W30. They also called this car an Acura.
