do a 5700 to 6000 rpm drop on the street..... at the drag strip you can go a little higher to around 6500 to 7000... do not drop the clutch tho... this could blow the diff.. you need to feather it out a little.. but quickly....
NEVER EVER feather the clutch on an S2k. the clutch is too weak to withstand that kind of abuse and you will burn your clutch and possibly glaze it over.

The ONLY way to properly launch this car is to dump the clutch. the clutch will take it. your diff will take it. if you do it right, the wear and tear goes to your tires.

The S2000 wasnt designed to be a drag car. So thats your problem. If you want to drag race go buy a camaro or a mustang.
don't get even me started.

bringing this back.

I drop the clutch at 5k, Wheel spin and the rpm drops to like 3.5k.

drop the clutch at 6k , wheel spin rpm drops to 4k. This is a drop clutch launch at full throttle. So what is the deal with it dropping so low of a rpm at a drop clutch. During the wheel spin is when i notice the rpm drop.

conclusion: I think i need to launch at 5500 rpm with riding the clutch a little until i get full traction then let go of the clutch and go full throttle.

anyone have issue with this. "my02"
as I said. NEVER feather the clutch. you'll just burn it up and could glaze it over.

try dumping the clutch at 6500rpm.

your launching rpm will vary depending on traction conditions. i've launched anywhere between 4000-6000rpm.

i think thats is why the rpm drop when i launched it. Who knows, how many guys are willing to abuse their s2k, to even try a high launch.

car is completely stock by the way.
I launched my first S2000 WELL over 1000 times. this one got a good 500+ before I changed out my gears. Never had a single problem, and could bang out 13's consistently when stock.

Side-stepping the clutch, dropping the hammer, uh...any situation where instead of feathering the clutch to start off the car, you release the clutch quickly.

it means you pull your foot off the clutch immediately so the clutch "pops" out and engages immediately.

Wisconsin knows what he's talking about...I dont know why everyone tries to argue with him...If I took his advice when I first bought my car used I'd still have A LOT more clutch life left instead of feathering it and glazing the piss out of it. I think whoever says the car isnt designed for launching is somewhat accurate.....it doesnt have very high torque.....plus its designed to get a lot of traction...so smoking the tires is forcing the car to do something it shouldnt be good at. but anyways....he's the man dont F*&^ with him lol.

Hey wisc. nice video on those gears you got! Now I'm REALLLLY srtaring at them every day wondering if I can affor dthem lol. 4-5 car lengths just by changing gears.....how nice.
