In business school, they teach (or at least used to) something called "Core Competence".

I never said the engine was invincible, or that I could ignore good maintenance practice, or that I could abuse the hell out of it either. After all, I didn't drive my RX-7 for ten years without paying attention to the oil level!
(If you want ignorance, go read the posts by people who try to generate G-force around corners in the rain and then blame their tires for loss of control.)
This thread started with a comment about how other manufacturers were having problems with similar high hp/displacement performance engines, and asked if S2K engines in general were having the same problems.
All I meant to say was that, given Honda's history and reputation, I feel as comfortable (or more) taking my chances with a Honda engine than I would with anyone else.
Peace.

There are other manufacturers that produce many more cars, so why is Honda the largest engine manufacturer? Are you counting the lawnmowers too?

BMW just extended the warranty on all of the new design 3.2 M motors to 6/100 if built earlier than some VIN. A small percentage of those have grenaded due to rod bearing trouble.
Acura has had lots of trouble with TL trannies. They extended the warranty to 7/100. Around 1-2 % are failing and often at fairly low mileage.
