Default Engine ticking with 4000 miles???

Hey guys.

I noticed that recently, my engine has developed a slight ticking noise. It's not that noticeable when it's cold. Only when the car is warmed up and idling. For the most part the engine is dead silent except for the tick tick tick. When I accelerate in gear, it still ticks until about 3500 and up where the sound goes away. The car idles fine, and VTEC engagement is normal. There are no changes in the engine's behavior, just the ticking noise.

Before anybody tells me to search for this. I did and read plenty of threads. From reading the posts, it appears to be normal valve train noise and I would possibly need a valve clearance adjustment. However, my car just turned 4000 miles. Isn't that too soon for a valve adjustment. But then again, maybe not since the engine is well broken in now. Keep in mind that I don't drive the car very hard. I occasionally will take it to 8-8.5k rpms but for the most part the engine sees 3-4.5k rpms. I am taking the car to Honda in two weeks to have a little ding taken out. I noticed that almost everybody who needed to have their valve clearances adjusted also experienced a rough idle. I don't have a rough idle at all. Can it just be that the clearances are still within limits therefore giving me that ticking noise, just not at the minimum clearance limits? Thanks for any help.

What kind of gas are you using? Have you checked your oil lately?

Strange. All of the Sunocos are changing to BPs around the NYC area.
