This has been discussed 1000x and those that don't have it will say it just sits there looking pretty. I rock it along with the puddymod bracket and it definitely works for me. I figured how to adjust it exactly to what I like so here.

FYI it is not a "shock" like it seems but more like an extra mount for the top of your engine. There is a rubber inside that is compressed when the engine vibrates.
i have the axialflow shifter that kinda had a nasty vibration. bought a puddymod...holy shit no vibration at all anywhere. i rock it out too

if you decide to buy, DONT buy j's damper. it is a piece of crap (fit wise). i did notice less vibration on my stick and smoother shifts.

How do you go about preloading the damener?

Micahel
I am glad to here you guys are having good luck with your choice of ETD
Here is the preload info you asked about

Setting pre load on a S2000 using a Engine Torque Damper (ETD)

Setting pre load on a ETD is easy, there is a greater adjustment range when using a PuddyMod ETD mount.

When setting pre load you only want to use your own body strength, there is no need for help from a pry bar or a friend to pull on the engine to set the pre load of your ETD.
It is very important not to over do it, because you can incur damage to your S2000 by putting undue stress on the ETD and other components on your car!!!!! Your S2000 motor mounts are there for a reason, let them do their job!!!

After installing the ETD mounts that came with the kit of your choice IE: Spoon, J

I didn't like the preload method and I don't think it's the proper way to adjust this.

Here's my process:
1. Tighten the large bolt setting the inner thread at about half.
2. Leave the outermost bolt loose and install the ETD.
3. Spin the grip wheel by hand so it pushes the engine out.
4. Stop when you feel enough resistance.
5. Tighten the outermost bolt to set this position.

Hi - I'm from Ingalls Engineering ... we do preload our ETD using the large nut. We have found that preloading the mounting position doesn't work as well ... but it can be done - as described above.

I'm not selling it, but here is the preload adjustment procedure:

http://www.ingallseng.com/parts/ETD/93048.htm

(click on "ETD adjustment instructions")

Also, for what it is worth .... not all ETD's are created equal. We feel that ours works better because it is mounted higher and has a better leverage point ... also, we have a one piece forged internal shaft and better elastomers ... and check out the new colors and extrustion for the body - but you can't buy from me ... so I'm not selling.

i've noticed a much more direct feel (not sure if that's the right way to describe it) going from one gear to the next, but it did not take the vibration out of my axialflow. but that is most likely because of the titanium knob i have on it. i have my ETD set as hard as i could get it, so from inside the car, you can hear the fusebox mount rattling. but when i had it on a medium setting, it was fine.

What brand is your strut bar?
Is that Spoon ETD? a) how did you mount without deleting fuse box tag? b) i hardly see a bracket under the strut bar.
