Engine whine on my 07.

Engine whine on my 07.
Hi Guys,
My engine makes a really loud whine noise when it's on. The rpm does not seem to affect the intensity of the whine. When at idle, it's so loud that i thought the noise was coming from a next door house at first.....and obviously when i rev the engine, the engine noise overpowers the whine. The whine is very high pitched, and i can't describe any more than that since i've never heard that kind of a whine from an engine before. Any ideas? Thanks in advance.
