Default Ever run out of gas in your S2k?

No I didn't but came very close.

I was on my way back to Houston from Dallas this weekend and was getting low but put off stopping at the nearest gas station. Of course then there were no gas stations for miles and I was down to the last bar (that is when the light comes on too). Anyway about 10 miles farther the last bar went out and I was getting VERY nervous because I was definitly not somewhere convenient to run out. I went another 12 miles after the last bar went out before I made it to a gas station. Whew!!

So... who has run out and how long do we have after that last bar goes out? I know this will depend on city or highway driving.

Mine seems to be a bit weird compared to others, but once I left my house with 2 bars remaining. A minute or so later, the gas light came on and it dropped a bar. It sputtered and died about 1/2 mile later, with the gas station in sight. Apparently, it had only vapors left, as I had just enough to restart it and pull in to refuel. Another time more recently, I had no bars and a gas light on and still managed to drive about 5 miles to get gas (at 3 am, palms sweating profusely).

Needless to say, I don't have a lot of faith in my gas gauge.

You were probably on a slight incline when you ran out of gas.

I had just decided to let a 944 turbo pass me at the track on friday....then down the main straight at 115mph it started to spudder..... i spuddered back to the pits where I got some gas.... Not stranded, but I wanted to show that WOMAN in the 944 that I could hang all over her bumper.

How much gas did it take when you filled it?
I have had the light on and it only took around 11.5

Yes I have! I got greedy. I've got about two gallons after the bars are out.

Good question. I just happen to still have my receipt and it was 10.44 gallons when the pump shut off.

I am averaging 226 miles per full tank; I thought I was going to get 270 at least. 18,000 miles already. City and Highway driving with majority being city. Anyone getting higher mileage like 300 miles on a full tank?

I've gotten 300 miles to the tank with alot of freeway driving.
I usually go to no bars before filling up.
I would say there's a 3/4 gallon of gas left with no bars.
