Variants of this thread come up pretty regularly. I chimed-in my opinion of the Evo here:
https://www.s2ki.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=308602

I'd say if you're looking for brute force and fast quarters, get the Evo. You can mod that thing until the cows come home. The Evo is a great car, all things considered. While the S2000 is a lot more fun to drive, it does not go quite as fast, and requires a bit more time, money and TLC to get gains from mods.

Moreover, if you're in CA (and a few other states), you'll have to do the 'turbo-on/turbo-off' dance to pass smog and/or CARB issues.

Now, time for a little paraphrased philosophy. . .

"Who is the bigger fool? The fool, or the fool who bites the troll of the fool?"

Retorting to a biased blanket statement is not an overly-effective way of persuading anyone of your superior intellect, reasoning, and as it appears, independence.

If you want a car that is expensive to own and will break if you push it all the time, then go with the Evo..
If you want a car that is cheap to own and will go 200k+ miles.. then get an S..
I'm not flamin the Evo.. I love it.. but it simply does not have the reliability factor... although it is cool as hell..

To be fair, no S2000 (at least we know of) has even reached 150k miles yet. 200k is a real stretch.

What we CAN say for certain is that Mitsu has some major reliability problems, both in terms of individual cars and the company itself.

If your main concern is just going real fast, the Evo is the better deal. Yes, you can make the S2000 faster than a stock Evo, or even a modded evo... but it's going to cost more.

By the way, one more thing to add in this conversation. If you really just want both power and a real sports car...

S2000 = $30k
FI = $5-7k

C6 = ~40k market price right now...

That is a ton for forced induction.

To comment on the 150K 200K mileage. I heard high reving engines do not get as high up there in mileage as low reving engines. I still have not found alot on this through the search. 8( But if you take care of a honda engine I do not see any problem of it getting up to its normal 200K.

That is not THAT high. It really depends on the setup. If you go with a larger turbo, a water-air intercooler, an EMS, and possibly a new, separate, fuel system, it CAN get that expensive (even more expensive if you sleeve the engine and port the top end).

i kinda have the same decision to make....rather I shoudl buy a 05 S2k or a 05 evo 8....the 0% is really tempting for the evo...a question tho..... ive been checking this forum for the past week and must I say the aftermarket parts for the s2k are quite expensive....it'll cost alot to mod a s2k....do the aftermarket parts for the evo carry about the same price tags? another words....is it cheaper to mod an evo?
