No, it's because the Evo handles better PERIOD.

2004 national results for A-stock:

oh look at that, you have to go to 24th place before an EVO even shows up on the list. and 12th place for an STi.
go to AS results here for the 2005 A-Stock national championships.

oh look at that. 11 S2000's finish ahead of the first EVO to even show up on the board. not to mention that 5 of the top 10 places went to S2000's.
so what's that again about the EVO??
Why can't we all respect the cars out there and try not to come up with the "best"?
The Evo is a great car, no doubt about it. The car survived to the 9th generation for God's sake, something must have gone very right with it. It is also a proven car on the racetrack - road AND dirt.
And as we all know on this board, the S is also a great car that has history, soul, and proven on the racetrack as well.
So which car is better really depend on the individual driver. What do you like - convertible or hardtop? 2-doors or 4-doors? AWD or RWD? And each individual's preference will be further confounded by his/her driving skill and driving style. With so many factors involved, which car is "better" will be determined only by who is behind the wheel.
And when it comes to who is behind the wheel... well, humans are even harder to compare.
C'mon guys, the S is a great car, and there are also other great cars out there. What is more important is that we all share a passion for our cars and the sport.

What, so you're telling me every car magazine is lying when they publish results with the Evo having higher skidpad, slalom numbers than the s2k? Yeah, i'm giong to lie to myself like every other car magazine out there
How about this, you show me one magazine that shows an S put up .98g on the skidpad? Oh right, you wont because the S can't
. I was never aware that SCCA was the say all definition of handling on a RACE TRACK ?
I guess auto-crosisng precedes real world track ability? So your logic, the s2k is hands down one of the greatest performing cars out of Japan
Please, the s2000 would get slaughtered by an evo on a track, not to mention an evo is far more modable than the S.

YOU said the EVO outhandles the S2000. CLEARLY it doesn't. and even on a road course, the only chance the EVO has is a road course that is high speed, giving the EVO a chance to use it's straightline power to overtake the S2k. if you put the best drivers or equal drivers in both cars, the S2000 wins. sorry, but that's just reality. You can talk mag skidpads all you want, because the proof is in the real world results.
I suppose next you'll tell us the S2000 can't do better than a 14.2 in the 1/4 mile because a magazine told you so.

even in the face of irrefutable proof, you still can't admit that you were wrong about the EVO outhandling S2000. are you related to S2oooNVegas by chance?
I prefer to measure a car's ability on a track, not around a parking lot with cones. But to each their own I guess. Second, i woudln't use an S for 1/4 since i'm very well aware that the S lacks any balls. But why bother, you seem to think the Honduh S is the greatest thing since sliced bread? Sounds like you're a Honduh fanboy. You still really haven't proven to me that the S is a better performing car than the Evo on a track
. I'm sure in the real world, we all race around a parking lot with cones

It's ok. Backpedaling with such statments is proof enough.
I'm shocked you're an owner, considering you seem to know very little about your car... Even in club racing, the S2000 performs better in the showroom stock class. (club racing is on a road course) Oh but I bet you didn't know that either. Did you know the S2000 is a convertible too? Just checking.
