Don't believe any of these Honda fanbois "S2000 is thuroubread and Evo is based on an Econobox" crap. The S is a great car, with not much potential unless you spend loads of money on it. The Evo is a car made to go fast in every direction with loads of potential. It all comes down to what you want personally.

I went through the same desicion myself, I was about to buy a C5 or Evo, but I would have dumped money into it imediatly to have a wicked fast car. But wasting money on my car is not what I want to be doing right now, so I got a practical fun car to have.

 

S2000 has much better gear box, looks 1000 times better, much more reliable, and the overall quality is much more solid.

I thought about the EVO myself but I had major concerns about Mitsubishi's reliability. They don't call it "shit-su-bishi" for nothing. My previous car was a '95 Eclipse and I had problems with it all the time.

I have both. Evo is no doubt more comfortable to drive as a daily driver. It also has more ammenities as it is a newer car. The Evo is much much faster, and it handles much better. The Evo is more mod friendly and dropping a few $k will result in much better gains than dropping money on an S. The things I love about the S is the 9k redline (I have a 2001) and the drop top! Driving with the drop down is just so intoxicating! Also the S feels more special since it is a pure sports car. I love the engine noise too. However Vtec cannot compare to turbo. Turbo is much faster. However, the sound of vtec is just downright awesome. I prefer the angry growl over the turbo spool and bov. I like the looks of both cars and people who say the Lan Evo is a rice rocket obviously doesnt know anything about it. I can say the same with a Honda!

If I had to sum both cars up.
Evo is a beast on the roads, it will eat anything you throw at it.
S2k is a surgeon on the roads, its a precision tool that requires skills to drive.

I'll get my buddy to join this post. He is a die hard evo fan, and is always against sti's. He is th one that told me about this after he did some apperent research. He was shocked ofcourse, but he can explain better then I can.

 

think of it this way. the evo looks like shit, the sti looks amazing. sti's were selling, while mitsu is goin out of business. what happen in 2006. The evo got a ac lift and looks awesome, and they made the sti look like shit. This way more people will buy the evo so mkitsu can actually sell some cars.

 

if you get an s2k and an evo smokes you at the light, will you blame us for getting one?

If performance is what you're after, get the evo. No doubt the evo beats the s2k in every performance category, speed, handling, modability, etc.
