evo vs. s2000
Who cares...when it comes down to it get what you really want. The cars are nowhere near similar. Roadster v. Sedan, FR v. AWD, Turbo v. NA, Honda v. Mitsu. Whatever. The S2000 clearly has more Sex appeal over the EVO, but the EVo's styling seems purposeful - except those tailights -yuck. There's really nothing to dislike about either. The only thing that I see as a negative is the reliabilty issues you may have with the Mitsu, plus your car's warranty is backed by a Car company that is on the verge of Bankruptcy in the US.

What, so you're telling me every car magazine is lying when they publish results with the Evo having higher skidpad, slalom numbers than the s2k? Yeah, i'm giong to lie to myself like every other car magazine out there
How about this, you show me one magazine that shows an S put up .98g on the skidpad? Oh right, you wont because the S can't
. I was never aware that SCCA was the say all definition of handling on a RACE TRACK ?
I guess auto-crosisng precedes real world track ability? So your logic, the s2k is hands down one of the greatest performing cars out of Japan
Please, the s2000 would get slaughtered by an evo on a track, not to mention an evo is far more modable than the S.

I read through the first page but I got tired so if I'm repeating something oh well.
I think that both of these cars are great but they are very different in nature so you will be making sacrifices either way. I believe that getting people's opinions on the forum is fine but you get a very wide spectrum of results (as you can see) and they might not apply to you.
My only advice. Go drive the piss out of both. The S2000 won't be difficult to get a drive but the evo might give you trouble but look around, some dealerships will give test drives. Go by yourself as well, don't let anyone give their opinion on ride, looks, ergonomics, power, etc. etc.
Approach the car and carefully think... is this something I want for X number of years? Open and slam every door, screw with every button and open every latch. Sit in every seat and scrutinize all of the car's features up close. When you drive the car take it on the highway as well as local roads. Don't be rude but be forceful if the salesman gives you sh*t about long test drives.
Try to drive the cars back to back, within one or two days of each other.
The merits of each car have been hammered to death... there is no question the evo is quicker, the s2000 has better built quality, etc etc etc. These are facts base on quantitative numbers. You can go back and forth forever. What's important is whether any of these points mean anything to you.
Who cares if a car goes from 0-60 a full second quicker if your the type of person to stare at the interior build quality of the car and say "is this all I get for 30k?". And of course the other way around.
I only harp on this stuff because at one point I was absolutely obsessed with the STI. I had posters, I had shirts, and I went to see the debut in Detroit a couple years back... then I graduated college, saved a good amount of money and drove the thing. I wanted to like the car so bad but the high seeing position, weird steering, weak rattling doors, short wheelbase, and overall cheapness of the interior overcame the unbelievable performance of the car. 3 months later I bought the S2000. I still sometimes wish for an Evo or an STI but since I test drove both those cars to death along with every other car on the market I know what I am sacrificing and what I am gaining in the S2000 I feel I made the right choice.
Don't create opinions on stuff like this second hand. Read the articles, listen to people's opinions with a grain of salt, and then go form your own.
Note: Not trying to tell you what to do. It's just my opinion on all of these S2000 vs. "insert car here" threads. And a couple years back I was the one posting them

i went through the same decision a month ago.
s2000 vs 350z vs audi a4 vs wrx
they are all different, all bring something else to the table that the other doesnt. none of us is a professional race car driver, so all those slalom crap and skidpads figures are just side jargon for number junkies. no reason for people to get into heated e-fight about.
comes down to what is practical for you and what you want out of your car. I was really thinking I would miss the space my CL provided, for backseat space and the humongous trunk. Also for my custom 12" sub i had. Comes to be that the sub is about the only thing I miss.
I love driving the S, and love owning it. One thing the S provides that puts it on par with a Porsche, Jag, etc is EXCLUSIVITY. You just dont see many around. I can go a week without seeing one, and I drive a decent amount every week. I love the looks I get, especially drop top style. It looks so much more aggressive than any other Honda, no one thinks that what it is.
I wouldnt trade it for anything in its class or price range...
my $0.02

I own both and they both have their pros and cons. In truth though, magazine racing aside, the S2000 is a hell of a lot more fun to drive and gets me a lot more attention.
Unfortunately, since i live in the midwest I can only drive it half the year. If I lived in So.Cal I'd get the s2000 and drive top down all the time!

I have had both. I had my 03 S2k before my Evo. I will say this, I have never EVER seen a more biased board then S2ki.....EVER. I am a car enthusiest, my loyalty lies with no one brand or model of car. People making comments like "hooked up lancer" have no idea wtf they are talking about, yet they open their idiotic mouths anyways....typical of this forum and yes, this was my opinion even when I was an active member w/ my car. Guess the Integra Type R can't perform either since its just a hooked up Integra. For those who think the Evo can't handle for some reason, it would be wise of you to STFU now.
Kent Jordan driving his Evo wins Thunderhill SCCA ITE race setting new track record for qualifying and race laps. Yes, all cars are race prepped including many vipers, Z06's, M3's, Porsches, and Ferraris etc..

I could keep going on, but just trust the fact that Kent Jordan never lost one race in the 05 season of ITE against other race cars. If you want more, go to the road racing section of evolutionm.net and get educated. Now, I will wait for the idiotic remarks that this forum is so well known for. I looovvedd my S2k, but you people don't even deserve such a car w/ your attitudes.
Edit- This is only for the ignorant people spewing crap. I am not referring to all of you.

The Evo isn't a $15,000 car beefied up to $30,000 just like an ITR isn't a $18,000 (GSR) car beefied up to $23,000.
The biggest claim against Evo's besides their looks is the lack of quality, and that comes from having a $15k P.O.S. as a base for a performance car. Denying that is ignorant. As for Kent Jordans success. That is one man, with one Evo.
1. If the Evo is so badass and uber, why is he the only Evo driver having so much success (hmmm, wonder if driver talent has anything to do with it.)
2. If the Evo is so killer and awesome, expect SCCA to reel them in with rule changes tha make them more competitive with 2wd cars without turbos next season.
Back to the TOPIC at hand, a stock Evo vs a stock S2000's handling. The best test of handling between mostly stock cars is A stock Auto-Xing. The S2000 has proved to be a better handling car. On top of all that, the S2000's handling characteristics make it the more fun car to drive.
