So help the new guy out here. I am looking at the T1R sparrow and am not sure if I need or should get a new header. What say you? BTW I was also looking at a K&N drop in filter. Suggestions? Want to keep the sound down because this is a daily driver in the city but am looking for some performance/sound gain. My girlfriend drives a Mitsu convertible Spyder and her stock exhaust sounds BETTER than mine.

Now this we CANNOT have.

The sparrow probably has little to no gains though. If that's what you want, be prepared to realize that you're spending hundreds of dollars for sound and looks. It's an amazing looking exhaust, but dual exhaust on a 4 cylinder car is just not the way to go for performance.

Do you NEED a header? The car already has a tuned header. Upgrading the car's header would only be for people looking for maximum horsepower in NA or boosted applications. If you're going NA, you should also be going with a larger TB, ported manifold or ITBs, new internals, etc. The money spent for a header on a mostly stock car is not really worth the power gained. A thousand dollars for 5-8 horsepower? Yikes. If you're spending 2 grand on an exhaust and header, you may as well save that money and add another grand for a SC.

If you really want to make your car fast for the smallest amount of money, read my first post in this thread

BTW, sending you a PM about the K&N filter.

If your not concerned with HP, then HKS with a testpipe is the best sounding exhaust I have heard on the S.

Comptech exhaust is what, a grand for 2-4 horses?

I don't think I have to say what a waste of money that is. If you want it or have it, be happy with the looks (subjective) and sound. For power, that is horrid though

Single outlets make more power

All,

Complete new guy here and looking for sub $1500 exhaust for my car. I read many posts and am going in the morn to my first AX and the folks there will probably answer most of my questions. BUT the question still remains...60mm or 70mm...test pipe or no...duals (I THINK YES, because I LIKE THE LOOK but am looking for a better sound and (maybe) a performance gain. Hate to spend the money for nothing so I am looking for advice. Down here in SW LA there are very few tuner shops for our cars. Mostly shops for my wifes truck (FORD F250 SUPERCREW DIESEL 4x4...traded in my BMW528 for it) so I am looking to you , the masses for help...

If you're so concerned about money, just get yourself a piece of 2.5"pipe;does not even have to be S.S.!!!
