Resonators do help with absolute loudness, just not the drone.

I have the Invidia V3 and on the hyway doing the speed limit or above there is no drone. Maybe the newer cars have better soundproofing?
Interested to hear from other owners of the V3 and their impression of this exhaust.

what is a "real" aftermarket exhaust? does that mean spend alotta money on a nice brand? if so, my 70r sparrow that cost me $1100 drones like a mofo.
Sorry, I was harsh. I just have a bit of a pet peeve about butchering up stock parts so that you can appear modified, and all the while, you're probably hurting performance. I've heard a lot of car with cheap exhaust "systems" like he's describing, and they all sounded terrible.

In my opinion, if you're going to deal with a droning, ill sounding exhaust, it better be shaving a lot of weight off the car. If you're looking for sound, get a properly designed system like HKS high power, or Greddy TiC. Both of those sound very good and still shave off some weight.

Simply swapping out mufflers makes the car sound bad and doesn't cut much weight. It also probably hurts performance a little bit.

You can pick up a used HKS for $400-$500 bucks... I'd just go that route.
