Hello, i am new here, read lots of information on this site. I am 18 years old an live in Pennsylvania and looking to buy a second car. I was looking at a few cars for a first car and considered the S2000, WRX, and RSX Type S. I have yet to test drive them, buy from many magazines, i have heard how "race bred" the S2000 is. I also like the interior. The WRX's interior isnt all that nice, and the RSX is nice, but not as nice as the S2000. I was wondering what a used S2000 Black/Black w/ about 15,000 miles would go for and how much insurance would be with my clean records. I was also wondering what the changed were since 2000 up until now. Thanks In Advance.

 

On insurance - ask your parents' company. At age 18 you will pay a lot due to your age. Typically the company your parents are with will provide the best rates, as long as they have good records too.

There are too many variables to insurance to give you a ballpark. Use the agent to help you in the car buying decision. He/she can help you and you will better understand what might happen if you get a ticket or an accident and what that would do to the rates as well. Ask your agent what the rates will be between the three cars. He/she can tell you exactly the differences to help you make a decision.

I would expect an S2000 with 15k to go for $26 to $30k back east. Use edmunds.com or carpoint.msn.com to check out the price. In AZ that would be $29-$35. I saw a used MY00 with 15K on it for $34k here with buyers signing papers

The main changes between the 2000-2001 and the 2002 model is that the latter includes leather center console cover and shift boot, tweeters in the upper door panels, and a glass rear window.
Nothing comes close to the performance of the S for $32K. Buy it.
