Default filter material in your catchcan?

Did any of you guys put any filtration material in your catchcan like a sponge or cheesecloth like stuff or will the oily vapor just collect in the can. I just cleaned out the throttle body and intake manifold on my 94 sentra and what a pian and oily mess

I want to prevent this on my S
