Rob- Glad to see you're keeping a good attitude after all the abuse some people have given you after your post!

Not to repeat what others have posted ad nauseam, but my car has definitely gotten faster with time, 4500 miles on it now, and it feels much peppier, even in the pre-VTEC RPM's. It'll never have the torque feel of your S4 or RX-7, but once again, this car was designed to excel on the racetrack, where the engine can be kept in the sweet spot and the full handling prowess of the incredibly rigid chassis can be fully appreciated.

Hope you get one!

Thanks for the info, SiverR2. All this time I thought my car was pretty damn fast. I'm puttin' that bitch in the paper today! I think I'll get something really neat, like a Mustang or a Camaro.

Ater reading this post I'm sure glad most dealerships refuse to allow S2000 test drives (for any reason) without first completing a full purchase. I wouldn't buy a new S2 with anything more than 5-miles on the odometer. It makes obvious sense!

My $.02

If the car has not even been broken in yet, how can you say it is slow. It really comes alive after 6500RPM - and not many dealers like to hear the sound of the VTEC on a test drive.
Any one who has taken a S 2000 up to 9000 RPM knows it is not slow.

I drove the car from a dead stop to redline... 1st, 2nd and then 3rd gear. The salesperson I was with was a young import crazed kid and wanted to really see what she'd do. I drove the car for about 25minutes all around town and onto the highway for a brief stint. Not JUST AROUND THE BLOCK!

We ended up going by my place because he wanted to see my RX-7 I had told him about during conversation in the showroom.
I understand that going from my 11sec RX-7 to a 14sec S2K is a big jump back but still. The one I drove didn't come close. I guess I should have changed my subject matter more towards, "The S2K must get much quicker after break-in."

I did praise the handling BTW so relax with all the "Get it on the track and you'll WET yer Pants" nonsense. I could just as easily say that it wouldn't come close to my Rex on the track, or any competition for that matter period.

I will still get one though. Probably next year. I had the hood up for about an hour trying to think of a way to squeeze a custom turbo setup in there! It's such a sweet looking car and I love the rigidity during top down.

Rob

p.s. Can't we all just get ALONG! hahahaha.... I love EVERYBODY!

I've had faster cars too, but agree w/ you 100%. It's not just the speed, but the total visceral experience, that makes this car so much fun!

I traded in my TYPE R for the S2K and when i got it i considered going back to the TYPE R as it felt faster, you cant go on feeling, my friend bought my TYPER R - we raced several times - standing starts , rolling starts and i beat him all the time, no problems, i hit speeds of 190km plus and the TYPE R was3-4 car lenghts behind- it never got infront of me once, TRUE the S2000 doesnt feels fast, but it truely is, best decision getting into major debt and buying it

Hey Goul, can you post more details (probably in a new thread) of how your runs against the Type-R went? I'm interested in knowing how much faster you were.
