When I launch from a rolling start at a light, my head does not snap back. I don't feel torque pressure in my chest. I feel like I want more. Then I look in my mirror and see the tiny cars very far back. I check my speed, and I am breaking the law.

No, it doesn't feel fast...at least not until you brake for the turn at the end of the straight.

Change your perspective. You may find that your perception of speed in not truly representative of your actual acceleration.

Thanks for stopping by.

sorta of have to agree, i had a mildly mod'ed '94 r2 (262 rwhp), and it was a monster compared to my s2000. people say rotaries have no torque but the rx7 pulled harder anywhere in the powerband, and when it transitioned to the 2nd turbo it was a more dramatic "kick" than the s2k going to vtec. i have never regreted buying the s2k though

Anyone that owns a S2 knows they can beat a stock V-8 Mustang or an M3 also knows the S2 is a "drivers car" and takes one to make it go.

When a passenger wants to experience what she'll do they are normally scared and always impressed. I've owned many very fast cars, a 6-9 grand sweep through the gears is impressive.

Buy one ----- drive it.... you'll get better.

Also note,

The ecu in this car is really protective of the engine. It will retard timing until it feels like a civic Si (no offense to civic owners). From what I understand it takes a while for the ecu to "get back to normal timing". I recomend taking one of our members cars out for a spin

Hi Rob. Glad to hear that you're local. Let me guess who had all the S2000's. Chambers? or Honda Cars of Boston? Anyways, I work at Bay State Motorsports in Malden. It's right off of route 1 Saugus. Bay State Motorsports. Anyways, when I first bought my S2000 I thought that it should be faster too. I learned 2 things.

1. It get's faster as it breaks in

2. It's slow as #$@ if you're not used to driving it.

Stop by and I'll take you for a ride and show you what they are really made of. It took me a month to "learn" the car. PM me if you want my number

Instead of driving it for 2 seconds and proclaiming your knowledge of how the car drives. Go find a person at your local track and ask for a ride, your opinion will change dramatically!

Anything under $50k and available in the US is slow, period. Supra, RX7, S2000, C5, Z28, Cobra... all slow... 12's is getting fast, 11's is moving at a very nice pace.

So an RX7 might be a few tenths quicker when stock... when you're use to significantly quicker, a few tenths on slow cars means nothing, it's like comparing a Civic SI to an Integra GSR...

I can understand why you felt the S2000 isn't as fast as you thought it would've been. Coming from your perspective, you have an S4 which is a pretty good continental performance car and an FD Rx-7 series 6 right? Since both of your cars in either way are producing torque at least double of an S2000 ... It's no wonder why you feel that the car isn't fast at all. Indeed, with an S2000 of such low torque ... It's barely anyway to convince you that it's fast.

Then again, if you took the comparisons with a car that costs around the similar performance and pricing range mark. You will find that the S2000 isn't so bad after all. No doubt indeed, it isn't the fastest car on the road but to appreciate what an S2000 is capable of doing is something you can comprehend from just a test drive. I don't take it as an offence in anyway and I have come across much faster cars in my experience. Similarly, I would comment that an M3 or S4 is slow if I owned a Lamborgini Diablo GT or Ferrari F50. It's just the same when you look down on something down the performance chain.
