Finally learned how to float gears!!!!
My daily driver "89 Civic DX" has a bad clutch, thing is just at the end of it's life, so, I thought I'd try to extend the clutch life a little by.....well......not using it! It took a few trys but I'm finally able to do it consistantly without grinding gears, it's kinda cool once you get the hang of it!
And of course, I had to try it at least once on my S2k.....I was in 3rd and was shifting to 4th, so I just put a little pressure on it and I'll be damned if it didn't just slide right in!!!! Don't worry, I'm NOT going to make a habit of it with my S2k, just had to do it once.

I learned to do this way back when in my old CRX, for just such an emergency (I was taught by a friend who had to drive home Detroit to Binhgamton, NY on a Sunday with a broken clutch cable).
If you're careful to rev-match properly, it's smooth as silk.

That is how I drive on a regular basis. I've noticed that my clutch slips a little when redline shifting, thank you 7.5k launching, so I've adopted the style you mentioned. (Also thank you TSB054, gettin it done soon) I can 'float' every transition well except 4 to 5. Can't get the timing down... and grinding sucks. Once I get the TSB done, no more launching, and I might go back to using the clutch...
