I use either my index finger or my thumb, but I voted index because I 'think' I use it more often...this is one of the stranger polls for the S...good work!

In the beginning, I used my pinky very gently, until the old girl got comfortable with it, and somehow I have manged to move up to the index and middle fingers.

I always use my index finger.
Like a few other folks here, I catch myself reaching for the start button in cars that don't have one.
BTW my 'drive to work beater' has a five speed, I constantly try to shift into sixth. It aint there!!!

I do the same exact thing. Especially since my jetta at 5th gear revs really high and without me thinking it's like I hear it and go to shift to 6th to lower the noise and... nothing... oops... lol.

Since I posted that I use my index finger, I have noticed that I have been using my thumb. Thanks for giving me something else to think about when I drive.

Index finger. I regard with great suspicion that 8 percent who use their middle finger. On my 'other' car, a BMW 330i, the start button is just above the slot where you insert the key fob, and the button push is right handed - my index finger falls right into place rather easily. On the S2000, you have to coordinate right and left hands a bit. Surprisingly, a lot of BMW 3 Series owners do not like the pushbutton, and feel it is an extra step. There are a few snobs who brag about their Comfort Access. For $500 extra, you get a special key fob which you can leave in your pocket. Then you merely get into the car, sit down and push the start button. Cool, but a bit of overkill, and perhaps a problem in valet situations if you forget to hand over that fob.
