It is VERY Possible to make a fully functioning, reliable, well built hybrid - that isn't "falling apart at the seams." While I usually agree with your posts, this one just throws me off. The guys that take the time to design and build these cars make this hobby all the more fun.

Of course its not going to be something that would be produced from any factory with a full warranty, and Im sure, like any project, it will have its issues. So what? Its not your headache, and regardless of your viewpoint, from a peformance aspect its going to be something to be reckoned with.

I was a member of Hybridz.org, where they specialize in RB, SR, 2JZ, SBC, SBF, L, VQ, VG, etc swaps into the Datsun/Nissan Z car. Of course we'd get some tools over at zcar.com that would say its blasphemy, the car was fine as is, blah blah. But as the owner of an L28ET powered 240Z, and after driving/seeing some fantastic and clean swaps of all kinds (RB Z32, SR S30s, etc) I can tell you, its a lot cooler and deserves far more props than buying bolt ons from a company and slapping them on.

Regardless, kudos on the 2JZ-GTE swap and I can't wait to see pics/videos/numbers.

+1 and subscribed.
Sorry.

I was very excited initially for the 2JZ swaps. I had earmarked some money for it as the next performance mod when the 2JZ swap vids were coming out.

Then the horror stories out of that particular install group started arising and there have some pretty loathsome business practices of "not-quite-ready-for-primetime" technology.

I was reacting more to the people installing these rather than the concept of a swap itself.

My ideal car is a RUF Boxster S with the 3.8L engine swap.

Or a Lotus with an AP1 engine swap...

So no problem with engine swaps, just certain reputations of the 2JZ swappers.

Then NEXT week the owner will realize that the car was just crazyglued together and is falling apart at the seams.

Soul Coughing, wanna chime in here?

What's next, do you want to put in an extra set of doors and seating for four? Maybe a few more cupholders....

Geez, man. It's not even an S2000 anymore.

Hey, I have the first V8 AWD S2000!!!!

Meh, you're just sore because of my sig picture.

How's your car doing these days "Dentkiller" or should I say InitialDGobSmackBackHand?

If you want me to remove the picture from the sig, just let me know.

Wow CKit,
Thanks for the attack. Sounds like you have some sort of problem. Let me guess, since I have put a Turbo kit, 18inch wheels and other mods on my other S2000 it is no longer an S2000 either. Some people think out of the box...and some don't.

I have a supercharger, intake, ACT clutch, heated seats, aftermarket HU. Had 4.57s and Comptech pumpkin before they self-destructed. And my wheels are wearing Pilot Sport Cups for daily driving use.

But the thing that IMHO defines the S2000 is the drivetrain and engine. With a turbo or supercharger, you're just making the engine "better."

If you remove the heart of the vehicle, what is it that makes it still an S2000?

If you made a FWD layout, would that still be an S2000?

Why don't you just call it an S3000?

That's what the displacement is now, right?

My point is that you were bandying about that it was an "automatic S2000."

So at what point is it not an S2000 anymore? That was the point of the photos.

Just for the record, I thought you did a good job taking full responsibility for your actions in the wreck and you get from me.

Like the hard rockers of the 80's said... "It takes a manly man to wear tight pants."

And those guys got more pu$$y than we'll ever see.

Good to see you back in the swing of things!

Cheers,
