Except all those engines do not destroy the initial purpose of the car. IMO, swapping a 2JZ destroys what the S2000 was built for. It was never meant to be a drag car, but with the 2JZ, you can't do a whole lot more than drag race it or take it to shows.
You guys are all really just haters. If someone purchased this car and just likes to use it to drive it and enjoy it(i.e. not murder every corner they find, not go to autox events..) then let them. Who are any of you to judge what this car needs to be used for!? It's a light rwd chassis with a huge engine bay! Not to mention that no one with an f20 or f22 has the power to keep up with this 2jz once it's done. Not yet at least. And yes automatic 2jz's are faster than manuals.

At the same time, I understand the objecitons. Some people think it's bad form to modify exotic cars (small blocks in Jag's and Ferrari's really seem to upset some folks), but I've seen both done well, and both *can be* a very nice swap.

The idea that you can't stuff a big(er) and heavier engine in a great handling car without ruining it is just wrong. If it were true, the AC Ace would be a better handling car than the AC Cobra, but it's not. A thorough swap, well planned and executed, can produce a car that is superior in EVERY WAY, and anyone who doubts it needs to take a good look at the early Shelby cars. Carrol taught us how to make a flexable small car handle well with a massive engine and gobs of torque and power, and the same techniques work just as well today as they did back in the 60's. The idea that a big motor will necessarily spoil the car or it's handling is just wrong. Certianly it will change the *character* of the car, but the car doesn't have to suck afterward. It could end up (if done with this in mind) with equal handling, greater grip, and a hell of a lot higher performance. And if that constitutes ruining a car then guys like Carol Shelby must be really stupid.
Me too.

If you don't know how to build a car to do what you want then this kind of thing probably IS a bad idea, but if you have clear goals and a good plan then there is no reason that the results can't be stellar.
Closed minds and haters not-with-standing.

Then NEXT week the owner will realize that the car was just crazyglued together and is falling apart at the seams.

Soul Coughing, wanna chime in here?

What's next, do you want to put in an extra set of doors and seating for four? Maybe a few more cupholders....

Geez, man. It's not even an S2000 anymore.

Hey, I have the first V8 AWD S2000!!!!

For 16k I'd stick with the stock engine and boost it. I got 700whp out of my civic and i loved it. Total sleeper. You dont need a 2JZ to go fast.

Sorry gentlemen, I AM NOT the same guy who built the first 2JZ's, and their are definitely a bunch of haters on this board. I have had a Turbo'd S2000 for well over 2 years now and wanted something with more power and TORQUE, something you just can get out of the F20, so I went with the 2JZ. Now don't get me wrong I still love my Turbo'd Silverstone (425whp) and will drive it all the time, but for real power it just can't compete. You can argue with me all day about building an F20 to get 600-700hp out of it but we all know that you are driving a time bomb, whereas 600-700hp out of a 2JZ is hardly any stress on the engine at all.

This swap is not justified in my eyes.

What kind of racing or purpose do you have for your car?

I'm sorry but it's not an S2000 anymore as it doesn't have an S2000 engine.

You changed the car's heart, it's not the same anymore.
