Lol i dunno where some of you get the notion that the turbo MR2s are actually fast. I know of a few people with fully bolted engines (anything short of a built head and motor) who do not impress me what so ever, seen the faster of the bunch run a turbo GSR integra on 12 lbs, stock motor stock and basemap tune and got horrible raped.

And I had mentioned STOCK MR2 vs STOCK S2000, not MR2 vs Stock S2000...

Well a stock MR2 is 0-60 in about 6.1 seconds. Even just a boost controller and it will be beating stock S2K's easily. They respond very well to mods as do any turbo cars. Have a few friends who had them with bolt-ons. Things definitely move.

[QUOTE=RFCR,Feb 5 2009, 03:50 PM] Why such a high top speed if you don't need it?

Lol dont get me wrong, I like MR2s but they do not hold up to S2000s sorry.

I dont care about car and driver specs, and i dont care if you do not know how to drive your car and lose to em, what I do care about however is the FACT that they just arent as fast as S2000s.

I don't know how many times I have to say this. He lives in the UK where he can get STOCK MR2 Turbos with ~250 HP. Now, he didn't say explicitly that he has one of the newer ones (WHICH WE DIDN'T GET IN THE US, so let's stop assuming that whatever we got, 200 HP MR2 Turbos, is the be all and end all of everything in the rest of the world), but considering the way he says he has a "Rev 4" Turbo, I'm willing to bet he has one of these.

Now, are you going to tell me that a stock MR2 with 250 HP is in FACT going to be slower than a stock S2000, at least in a straight line?

You are. Right stock MR2 vs stock S2000. S2000 will win. Once you starting modding short of fi. The MR2 will easily beat an S2K. Turbo cars respond 20 times better to bolt ons.

I'm gonna hate seeing this car transformed into a typical Honda is, but now with these prices, the affordability is gonna have plenty of young new owners taking away the true heritage, but that's how it goes.
So true and already happening. Sad, very sad.

Turbo MR2's are definitely fast. I still love my S though. haha. MR2's just don't have that soul for me. The S just feels right every time I sit in it.

If it weren't an S, the only other consideration in my mind would be an M3. My friend has one and I must admit it is posh. It's pretty much the exact opposite design direction towards "fast" from the S in my mind. It feels great, seats five, nav, everything, and offers an amazing sedan ride. At the end of the day though, top down in an S2000 is top down in an S2000. haha.
