Sorry man, I know exactly how you feel. A long time ago, my boyfriend and I were driving in Berkeley (east bay) and some losers pulled up along side us and chucked a 40oz beer bottle at his car. It left a nice dent on the gas cap. For no reason whatsoever - just because we had a nice car.

I've gotten a lot of negative attention myself. I like cars, and I've always worked my ass off to get them and take care of them. For some reason that seems to really piss people off. Being young, and female, only makes it worse. I always make it a point to park away from other cars because I know people don't give a damn if they smack their door into the side of someone else's car. People have no respect for other people's property - and everyone and their mother has a Hummer, Excursion or Suburban around here. They will pull in and leave 6 inches between their truck and my car. When I do park at the end of the lot, 90% of the time, I'll find someone who has gone completely out of their way to park next to me anyway, even if there are 200 other empty spaces. Apparently, that's how they get their kicks.

What ever happened to showing some respect? I know that whenever I see a nice ass car, I either give the person a thumbs up, peace sign... whatever. But NEVER have I ever thought of messing with their car just because they had something better than I did. People need to grow up. You have a problem with someone, take it up with them, not their car.

I dread the day someone messes with my S2000. I know it will happen sooner or later. Makes me want to carry a brick in the car, just in case. I live in an apartment, so my car is outside 24/7 when I'm at work, school or home. I worry about it all the time, but unless I want to sleep outside, there isn't much I can do.

Sorry people have to be assholes.

I hear you on that. When I see someone with a nice car I do the same exact thing. Show them a gesture of... "damn, that is a nice car and I'm happy for you." You know, if they work for it and have it, it's becaus they deserve it. No need to be hating on people. If only everyone thought like that, we wouldn't need to worry as much.

I can just imagine what you go through with leaving your car parked outside. I leave mine outside too, but on the side of the house where it is kind of hidden, nice town, and I still get super freaked out of something happening. And with the whole parking thing... I'll try parking far away, you know, actually not minding the long walk just to keep the car in a ding free zone, and poof, you come back and there's that one a$$ that had to park right next to you even though there's like 200 other spots like you said... lol. Some people are just awkward. Good thing I decided to keep my 1986 Jetta for the places that I know I'll be freaked out.

Yeah man. Like I knew there was most likely going to be people to talk sh*t, but throwing things at me, especially glass, that's a little extreme and a rude awakening at the types of people that are out there. Next time I'll be prepared to call the cops right away.

So stupid. It's like... it's not my fault you didn't want to make anything of yourself, you know. Break the bottle over your head for not wanting to drive yourself to do something better with your life.

Just curious, but is this common? I have never heard of this and I personally have never felt any kind of compulsion to do something like that to a rider. Quite the contrary, I usually get over and give riders plenty of space, and if it is a nice bike I will give him/her a thumbs up.

It is one thing for a moron to throw a glass bottle at a car and possibly damage the paint, tires, etc, but if someone were to hit a bike at highway speeds, there is a pretty good chance they will kill them.

unfortunately here in houston......people HATE bikers....sucks that my commute to school is 30 miles each way going I-45 north, then south to go back home....

as far as throwing things...its happens every now and again...., but being cutoff intentionally by and @$$hat is more common....they speed up, lunge in your lane...then slam the breaks and wave out the window....

i dont need to be messing around with a car, cause they can hit me...i'm faster than they are sure, but i dont need to be risking it.

Just a suggestion, if possible rent a storage area near your home to park the car
in when not around. A couple of my friends who live in apartments do the same.

I agree, getting the plate would have been a good idea. Not sure what the cops would have done since it would have been your word against theirs, but they at least might have gotten a visit, which might have given them a second thought about doing something like that again.

They are right about littering too, I was just in traffic court last week, littering carries a fine that ranges from $200-$1000!!! Some poor kid got hit with a $200 fine for throwing a single catzup packet out his window.

If that had been me and they cut one of my brand new S03's I prolly would have gone postal!

definately words i try to live by on the road.

but it sure sucks sometimes cuz its a hit on one's pride... like when merging on the hwy,
i'll see this car purposely speeding up in the next lane,
(rant: and its like wtf, those asshats are in the slow lane and are gonna be exiting anyway)

i can A: show him whats up by just gunning it, and merge in front of him,
possibly brake checking his ass or...

B: let the baby have his bottle, go at the proper speed so that
he passes me before i run out of road and not even risk the
small possibility of him rear ending or clipping me.

[QUOTE=8kGoodENuff,May 7 2006, 03:27 PM]After having some time to think I realized that I should have just called the cops and followed them so that the cops could follow them for I had no where to go for I was just cruising.

Sorry so long guys.
