First HATER encounter on Highway
Thank you for this thread. I am going to put a few batteries in the cup holder as I hop on 3 everyday. Where on 3 was this? I took a drive on Sunday as well just because I had nothing to do! I love driving this car.

Just curious, but is this common? I have never heard of this and I personally have never felt any kind of compulsion to do something like that to a rider. Quite the contrary, I usually get over and give riders plenty of space, and if it is a nice bike I will give him/her a thumbs up.
It is one thing for a moron to throw a glass bottle at a car and possibly damage the paint, tires, etc, but if someone were to hit a bike at highway speeds, there is a pretty good chance they will kill them.

If someone threw a bottle at my car you better believe I would grab my phone and follow them until the police pulled them over.
one warm night a few months ago i was cruzin and a jerk in a blue chevy pu truck threw a 1/2 empty big gulp into my car while the top was down, i was in the inner lane, he in the middle, as soon as he let loose the cup landed right side up behind me between me and the headrest, just some ice fell out, i picked it up and by that time he had sharp turned and lane changed off the blvd to the right, impossible to find....what a jerk i thought, no real damage done, i threw the cup in a trash can at the next gas station, just a little liquid down my back.
i can only guess if i was in any convertible this would have happened, wrong place at wrong time...my guess is that guy got his jollies and a good story to tell someone?

Sucks to hear about that! Honestly, until reading on this board, I've never seen/heard of stories where people blatantly do things to other people just b/c of the car they drive.
But for all of the people saying they're going to start carrying objects to throw at other cars if they get someone throwing stuff at them, DON'T DO IT! It is just as illegal for you to throw something at their car as it is for them to throw something at you, and "but, they did it first" is not a defense. In fact, directly throwing something at a moving vehicle is a lot more than littering in every state that I'm aware of. You don't need that kind of trouble.
Just get plate numbers and call the police.

I'm in NJ, and I don't drive a nice car, so I can't give any personal experience. But what I did post is to say that instead of getting them cited for littering, you can get them cited for assault and battery. That's definitely more of a problem for them than just a simple fine.
I remember way back when a bunch of 16 year old asshats in mommy and daddy's suv decided to chuck various fast food items at my car. There were 3 of us in my (old) car at the time, and being the dumbass teenagers that we were at the time of the incident we had a large truck rim handy in the back seat (don't ask, I think we were going to use it as a dorm table). Of course, a chase ensued, and as we caught them at the next red light, i roll down my window, and tell them its my turn as my friend stood up through the sunroof with said truckrim in hand, let out a warcry and chucked it right onto their hood as they tried to get away by running the red light. Judging by the way the rim imploded their hood I'd say the lesson was learned. Do I recommend doing this? no. Would I do this today? no. But it was goddamn hilarious
