Apples and Oranges, i guess all the major car magazines like to compare apples and oranges. I dont think i have even seen a write up comparing the S2000 vs. Miata or MR2!!

I find it much easier 2 drive than all the 911's i've had and so far more forgiving, i've never driven the boxster. btw i know everyone is aware of this but $30,000 better buy u some extra fit & finish, personally i'd rather have the 2nd vehicle that $$ buys 4 me in this case a nice 4x4!

DavidM, I'm very impressed by the amount of data you have on these two cars, however, my experience is that their performance is very very close.
I don't disagree with you at all. The 'slight' edge' that the BoxsterS has in terms of acceleration is really just a 'slight edge' ... we're talking few 10th at 160kph (100mph) and maybe 1sec at 200kph (130mph).
Where the BoxsterS literally kills the S2000 is in how trackable the engine is. It pulls like a train from as low as 2000rpm. BoxsterS is fast even at low to mid revs while the S2000 is only fast really only when in the high revs.
Though on a track, where low-mid range power does not matter too much the two cars are hard to separate. Still, just from all the track tests the 'slight edge' again goes to the BoxsterS again.
ps. I've also driven Boxster 2.5, 2.7 as well as S ... I seriously concidered them all before purchasing the S2000.

I currently own a Boxster S and am in the process of purchasing the S2000. Although I have only test driven the Honda here are my observations: Porsche is to refined for my tastes you can't "feel" the car like you can the Honda. The Honda "feels" much smaller and more agile, much more like a go cart than a car. The Honda is "rough around the edges" as a sports car should be and almost gives me the feeling that I am driving one of my beloved British sports cars. Yes the Porsche can probably be driven alot faster and instantly gives you a feeling of TOTAL control however this is exactly what I don't want. I want a car that feels just a touch out of control!

The car is meant to be driven by hardcore drivers.
Welcome.
