First oil change??

Just as an FYI to you guys... if you go synthetic, you do not need to change you oil at 3000 miles, or even 5000. This is under any condition. for the past few changes in my Maxima I've had the oil analyized by Blackstone Lab. The result is that the Mobile 1 held up just fine in the Texas weather for upto 8000 miles.

having said that, if you feel more comfortable changing at 5000, 3000, 1000, what not, do so. But your oil is fine.

Mainly in any of the following conditions:
<5 miles/trip (<10 if in freezing conditions)
In exremely hot weather (>90F)
Extensive idling or Stop and go
In mountainous terrain
Muddy, icy, or deiced roads

also, there is nothing "magic" about 3000 vs 3750- I'd do it somewhere in that range-whenever convenient. Also, HMC has tried to simplify maintenance for us all- so those who changed their oil after breakin but before 3750 have a "point" too, IMO

I changed at 3800 to 5w30 castrol non-synth (what the honda dealer had). Ive been noting that the car didnt feel as strong as when I bought it. I have wondered what viscosity the oil was from the factory, and if oil could make a noticable performance difference. After more thought, I realized when I bought the car in December, I was driving in near freezing temps (with the top down of course). Now the average daily temperature is 90derees f in orlando. That would make some difference.
I will go to Mobil 1 synth on my next change. The manual calls for 10w30 if I remember correctly, so my hope is by going back to the 10w30 I will regain some of the kick I had before.
Did I read that higher viscosity oil increases compression?

Do what we Aussies do if you want your S2000 to last longer and run better.
First oil and filter change at 1,000km (600 miles) provided free by Honda Australia as part of first COMPULSORY service. If you don't have this service you void your warranty.
Second oil and filter change at 5,000km (3,100 miles).
Subsequent oil and filter changes EVERY 5,000km.
Results:
1. No oil useage between changes - oil always remains above mid point on dipstick.
2. I find I really notice the performance improvement after the oil change - the car just seems more lively and willing before and during VTEC.
