My 05 manual says on page 100 under "breakin period":

-Avoid full-throttle starts and rapid acceleration. Do not exceed 5,500 rpm for the first 600 miles.

-Do not change the oil until the scheduled maintenance time.

-Avoid hard breaking for the first 200 miles.

On page 125 in the "Normal Conditions" chart, the oil change interval is 7,500 miles or one year, which ever comes first. On page 126 in the "Severe Conditions" chart, the oil change interval is every 3,750 miles or 6 months, which ever comes first. Since Honda designs, builds, tests, and provides the warantee on the engine, I'd follow their recomendation and not change the oil until the scheduled maintenance time. Oil may provide the ideal lubracating propertys only after a couple thousand "conditioning" miles in the engine. I figure the Honda engine engineers know more about the engines they design than 99% of the posters in this forum.

will the maint minder remind me of anything other than oil change? My car is still fairly new.
Yes, it is all described in the manual. There are different reminders (different symbols on the dash) corresponding to the maintenace you are supposed to have done when the time is up.

I should read my manual again. I dont remember that one. Anyway, I'm still at work so, can't read it till I get home later tonight. Is the counter just for oil change interval? Or for any maintenance I need to do??

Is it safe to say that I can forget about the "regular" maintenace sched, because my car will remind me anyway? It can be nice not to worry about it anymore.
