I know this has been discussed before but I can't seem to find the specific thread that dealt with my question. So I'll ask it again. Are months more important than miles for the first oil change. I don't want to get rid of the break-in additives too soon. I've got about 1800 miles in 9 months. I know, I know; the S2K is a weekend car and I've been real busy the past couple of months. Shall I change now or wait a few more miles?

Change it...you don't really want to go more than 6 months with the same oil.

Change it before the oil lost it's "POWER". he, he.. I have my car less then 1 month, already over 1600 miles on my new 2001. ( I used work in the resturant, have you seen the frier oil when "it" lost its "Power" - viscosity range.)
I still have not "Use" or burned oil yet? I heard some of you adds 1 quart or more all the time?? Do you VTEC every second??? I VTEC everyday! But not "ragging-out" the engine!

David

I was in the same boat as you. I changed mine at 8 months and only 900 miles. I just changed the oil again at 1 year and 1700 miles.

Regardless of how special that break-in oil is, moisture in the oil/engine is not a good thing.

Thanks Meat. I'm planning to change it as soon I can take it in to the dealer. Do you change the oil yourself or do you take it someplace?

I have done one myself and the dealer has done one. It is very easy to change on your own - once you have all the right tools!
