Default first time VTEC testimonial

waiting 600 miles were harder than waiting 2yrs for this car.
when odo was reading 590miles, i head to best conditioned highway in my area, and as soon as odo rolled to 600miles, i hit em hard.
first time going over 5500rpm. however, didn' feel much. kidna disappointed.

so i cruised couple miles and downshifted to 3rd and it was at 7000rpm, and sound became very mean, and sharp, compare to quite grunt sound in lower rpm.
and i pulled all the way up, hit redline, shift up, and i say WOW.

Engine still sounds like mean beast and pulling me forward .... speedo was already well over 90, so i gave a brake.

It is just damn good to feel car moving forward, and to hear the engine screaming!

If anyone debating on buying s2k, i give you my word. GO GET IT NOW.

anyhow, is it ok to acutally hit the redline? it was blinking and felt like gas was disengaging, i felt gas pedal dumbing out when redline blinked.

do you guys actually hit redline?? cuz i smelled tiny bit of something burning after that. maybe engine was just burning off things to get used to higher rpm?
im not much of a tech guy, so plz educate me

You hit the rev limiter. It's there to prevent you from doing damage, but you don't want to bounce off it. You'll want to shift a little before there; it takes practice but soon you'll know the sound of the engine and won't even need to check the tach when it's time to shift. Glad you like the car.

limiter is fuel cutoff hence what you noticed. Not a big deal.

Uhh wtf did you wait 600 miles for? Oh right - here comes the idiot tard debate regarding break in. Bleh whatever.

Not sure about the rest of you, but at 5280 feet all the S2000 does at around 6k is make more noise. Still slow as hell. Oh how I hate altitude.

The effects of oxygen starvation are obvious.

I've always wondered how a performance orientated car would 'feel' at altitude. I know its a disadvantage, but just a mild curiousity.

What do S2K's or comparable cars run at the track @ 5,000 + feet steve?

i got over 1100 miles and still havn't passed 5000rpm yet. well there just was no reason to push it hard. i dun feel like wasting my gas. but til around 5000rpm car feels really smooth but lack of torque. my last car was turbo rsx and sure i miss that turbo.

oh wat rpm does vtec kick in anyway?

/me slaps kimchi

Come on, redline it! The car is an entirely different animal at high rpm's, that is where the power is at.
