Not sure about the rest of you, but at 5280 feet all the S2000 does at around 6k is make more noise. Still slow as hell. Oh how I hate altitude.

I talked to a honda engineer (that was buying a cadillac xlr while i was at the dealer getting my s2k), and he said that they design these motors to run vtech and back hundreds of times without skipping a beat (hence the geared cams). Also he said they run them at all rpm's for 24hours.

24hours of vtech, now there is a sensation to behold :-P So basically, use vtech anytime you want to, no draw backs etc etc. Except for gas prices.
kekek such a good info. i love this car more and more and more....

I have an 03 RSX-S. Different engine of course than the S2K, but they both redline - 04-05 S2k's anyways - around 8000rpm. The stock rev limiter on mine cuts at 8100.

The problem with the RSX-S motor, is that there is a big dip in HP and TQ at about 5200 rpm. K-Pro can tune that out, but I don't have it.

I test drove an '05 S2k, but didn't rev above 4500 because the car only had 12 miles on it. My question: Is there a power dip below VTEC engagement on the '05 S2k's or does the car have a more linear power curve?

A little...doesnt really matter thoughcause if you are driving it right the revs never drop that low.

power drop on 5200rpm on rsx motor? well i dunno buddy. i had greddy turbo and k-pro having 200+ torque at 3500rpm was VERY NICE.

and didn't go up all the way to redline but i went up to around 7500-7600 rpm today for the first time in my05. vtec is very nice but freaking delay valve owns me.

another questions. didn't f20 vtec kick in at around 4500 to 5000rpm? that's what i thought and when i heard f22 vtec kicks in at 6000rpm i thought that was pretty high cuz even rsx vtec kicked in at 5800rpm.
