Flip key option that works?
I just bought one of these: http://www.ebay.com/itm/190704989258
I'm confused how it could work with both AP1 & AP2 unless they give you different blanks that fit. Based on the list of compatible models, I'd guess it comes with an AP2 "lasercut" blank. Will post my findings when I get it. Maybe my first 'DIY'!

The one thing i did notice from the pictures is that there is no opening for the panic button like on my ap1 key fob. I dont really ever see the need to use it but i hope that wont cause a fitment issue when i go to install it.
Yeah, that really neat and tidy.. but way over my head. If the panic button is in the way, I should be able to just remove it. Also, my wife has the integrated key and keyfob (no flip) on her 2011 CRV and I don't love it. It's too large and pointy in my pocket, has cost me a few jacket pockets, and endangers the jewels regularly.
thought i would give an update of the flip key option from ebay... overall the keyfob installed really easily but the key they send to you is thicker then the normal ap1 key. I went and got it cut and it works in most of my locks but it sticks on some of the locks and is really tough to use in the ignition. It may be the keyfob itself or just the guy who cut it didnt do a very good job. Overall i think it might be worth for you to try out out but just know that the fob will work great but get the key cut from a reputable shop. I am probably going to buy another one and have a real locksmith do the cutting this time, not the guys at home depot.
so the blanks are for ap1's and wouldnt work for ap2's? i remember the description said it was compatible with both but i guess the seller didnt know honda used two different types of blanks. i dont suppose you have pics of the fob?
sucks for us ap2 owners
i really would like an easy all-in-one solution for the key + fob.anyone willing to be a guinea pig and order one of the keys that comes with a correct blank and try to use the key blank in the other case?

How I got here:
1. Bought the S2000 flip key shell online (yes it came with an AP1 keyblank). Ebay Link: S2000 flip key
2. Contacted seller about the issue, they sent me another flip shell with the correct AP2 blank, but the wrong button set. Ebay Link: CRV flip key
3. Combine the shell for the S2000 with the keyblank from the CRV fob. Take your existing remote apart and place the remote button board in new shell. You will lose the Panic button, remove it before installing.
4. There's a little metal bar on the back of our remote board, contacts the S2000 shell plastic supports, I cut that small support with a dremel.
5. Dremel apart one of the existing keys (just the outside edge) and remove the already programmed transponder. Place the transponder into the new shell.
6. Put the shell together, notice that the buttons aren't well supported when you click them. I used some round felt stickies to support the buttons inside.
7. Get the key cut at Honda (Penske Honda Indianapolis cut it for FREE!) Make sure they cut by VIN number and then trace your worn key after.
8. Before using the key, sand it down a little bit to try and make it match the worn parts of your existing key.
9. Put the key in and out a few times. DON'T TURN THE IGNITION YET OR IT WILL GET STUCK. Re-sand if its sticks at all.
10. After you are confident it isn't sticking, Turn the ignition and test. It will be hard to get it out the first time. The trick is pushing the key in enough to let the cylinder release it.
