Thats an excellent write-up. From the pictures it looks like the transponder is supose to go into that slit on the black plastic piece that holds the fob internals.....I could be wrong. Also, does the OEM fob just pop open or does it break? Would you be able to restore the OEM internals if need be?

Have you tried using the lock/unlock feature yet? Any difference in range? I'm getting one now so thanks for your review.
The original FOB can be restored easily.

I already tried used the lock/unlock feature last night. It works but I didn't really test range. I'll do a range test after work. With the original FOB I can ping the car a street block away using the "hold to the forehead and point method <- for extra range!" LOLZ.

I inserted the key last night also to test. It goes in easily but wont turn obviously.

Oh, I wanted to add. You will lose the option to use the panic button. The rubber piece doesn't extend to the button. But i've only used the panic maybe once?

Key was cut during lunch for $5 and the moment of truth....

After fidgeting with the newly cut key it started undramatically! 1 click was really all the extension I needed for the key to turn. I did however have another key in the car. I'll do a proper control test tonight to see if it was a factor.

Anyway, I talked to the ebay seller and he'll give me a discount for multiple pieces. Probably $25 shipped for each key. I still haven't checked with the local engraver to get the S2000 logo printed but if everyone wants it, I'll find out.

I would be interested but seems like a lot of work. Also I have about 7 keys on my chain and this would make it bulky. Can you post a pic of the key in the ignition so I can get an idea of how it looks/sits?

Excellent write up though.
