i dunno how many folks here have actually used honda's oem flip keys (like the ones that come with most acuras) but from my experience they are extremely flimsy. as ive said before i work at a valet, i touch probably 200-300 different keys everyday and about 75% of all the acura flip keys i touch are broken. the electronics still work, but the key doesnt lock down on the side all the way, it usually sticks out a little. not really a big deal to some people, but it kind of defeats the purpose of a compact flip key if the key doesnt stay hidden inside the shell. i have not seen this occur with either VW or chevy flip keys, but almost all the acura ones i have seen have this defect.

I really want a flip key as well! There must be an option out there especially since I have an after market ecu and no longer need the chip in the key to start it.

The ECU wasn't the issue. You could always pry the immobilizer out and fit a new fly key. It was the frequency for the OEM keyless entry and alarm that wasn't compatible with any flip keys.

Yeah, I just wanted to follow this thread to see where it goes.

I'd love a flip key.

Here are the keys:

And here is the housing:

The only thing is the keys are around $23+shipping, but there is a minimum order of 5. So if the frequency is not correct, I'd be out around $125.

Would anyone be interested in a flip key if the only working buttons were lock and unlock?

Can we crack open our remotes and fit the boards into one of these? And can we cut the key to work with our cars?
