i have both.. my sti is setup for STU (autox) turboback, on coilovers, full tune for street driving. just bought my ap1 s2k a few weeks ago.

after driving the past 2 weeks only in the s2k and hopping back in the sti.. the sti straight up scared me with the acceleration. HUGE difference in torque/power. it puts a shit eating grin on your face.

but i gotta say that the s2000 is way more fun to drive. precise shifting, awesome quick steering feedback/feel. you have to manhandle an sti in the corners.. s2k feels half as light and is so precise, awesome balance.. the whole scalpel to sledgehammer analogy applies.

get an s2k.. you won't regret it.. you probably won't even miss the power of the sti. plus chicks dig the s2k way more!

I am thinking of trading my S2K with a friend who has a 98 M3 so we are two days into an extended test drive. I suspect the M3 is similar to the STI in that it's torque dominates the S2000... and that's about it. The connection I feel to the "ultimate driving machine" is vague and sloppy. That just isn't my style. I like it tight and connected. I also am not in love with how the low end torque makes driving easy and chill difficult. That motor just begs to pull. You basically have to baby it and be all tenative just to drive around normally. I like ragging it out in the S2000 even when I'm going slow.

NOT!!! The m3 is more like an s2000 than an sti!! Dude the e36 m3 is wack man, they might be faster than s2k's (and barely cause its an e36 m3 their not all that faster they might have more torque but not that impressive not in the quarter nore the track!)it would be stupid in your part to do that . Why do you think he wants to trade you????? He's been slick, and if its your friend than he's trying to screw you over dont do it man you WILL regret it

What about the color? hahaha I'm so stuck on colors right now - Yellow looks good, White looks good, black is ok and silver is ok...

The guys at the dealership were trying to sell me the CR and I'm like I'm probably not buying new and I'm definetly not buying a CR, I'd probably use some CR parts but I don't need to spend all that extra money. Plus the CR wheels look like crap...

I have owned 3 s2000s and now have an STI, as well as a 993 and a minivan (to put my answer/opinion in context). To get to your quesions, the S2000 was, to me, more fun and I prefer the RWD platform. The STI has a back seat and is also a fun car, and because it is relatively unattractive I don't give a hoot if it is dirty or scratched. That just adds to the patina of a Scoob, and to its appeal.

I need the backseat, hence the STI. The 993 rear quarters are too small for my 12yo, and I am keeping that garage queen lovely, as I think about selling it for a GT3(996) or even pocketing some cash and getting another S2000 to go with the STI. So the S2000 is counted in pretty good company.

In the end, if I did not need a back seat, I'd probably go with the S2000. It is a very pure sports car and is fun to drive, and the top goes down. The STI, though, is the best car for the $$ if you want fun/fast/safe/practical all rolled into one.

As an aside, neither car gets good mileage, though the S2000 does better than the Scoob. The other downside of the S2000 for me was I cannot drive it at a DE locally unless I put in a roll bar, and in these cars (if also dds/street cars) that is an issue. Since I am never going to race, I don't really want a dedicated track car that I have to tow, so having a dual duty car helps. If your local track rules are different, well, aslong as you are aware of the risks/pros/cons, the rollbar issue may not actually be one for you.

Out of my 3 cars I like driving my Subaru the most. Although I think my favorite car in all the cars I have owned in the past my fav would be my 1995 3000gt vr4

I'm a little weird though lol. I like the subaru the most because it gives me that initial d feeling, I like all my hoodscoops and vents and the big wing, I also like when people come up and tell me thats their favorite model subaru lol

I'm 22 if that means anything

I would go with satin silver (i love that color) but silverstone is what they had so i bought it, not that its a bad color but i just love the other... Yeah i agree with you 100% on the cr wheels been ugly!! They really messed up the car with that spoiler and them wheels, i would never in my life spend $4000 more to get that spoiler and them wheels, l ove the blue tho!!!!

if you need space, don't get the s2k. that's the biggest sacrifice you'll make.

that and if you want power for cheap, don't get the s2k, because parts are expensive on the s.

as far as good things are, girls love it, you feel like you're in a real sports car, the car is more drivers car and it's fun to drive, handles amazing, rwd's are fun if you know what you're doing and mostly you get to enjoy the warm weather in the summer time. cruising in town with your top down is something that I could experience with my evo.

bad things are - it's slow. I mean, really really slow. Painfully slow. It might handle the corner better, but Evo was a lot more stable on the highway speed. you can't take this for a long trip or it'll make you mad. It's loud from the engine and VTEC isn't that much of anything if you're coming from an Evo or STI (modded). Even the modded s2k isn't that fast.

but if you've given up trying to beat everyone and just want to enjoy a good mtn runs and track days, this is a good car to have. And it wont make you look like a sissy like driving a Miata or solstice.
