Default Found a hole in my top, HELP!!

I had a great lunch in downtown Alexandria, Virginia today. When I returned to my car I found that someone had ventilated my top with a key or something of the like. Now I've got a cut, about an inch long, directly in the middle of my top. I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions for a fix OTHER than replacing the entire top. I was quoted $1795 for replacing the top (service + parts).

I DON'T want to dump almost 2 grand on a new top. Does anyone know of any alternatives? I don't want to use a lamer latex patch either. I want my baby to continue looking hard.

HELP!

nothing will stick to the top, only thing you can do is the sew it together. better call your insurance company.

That's what I'm afraid of. Looks like I may patch mine and buy a hard top with the insurance money!

if you have a plastic back window, see if they will replace your top with an 02 style top...

Your insurance should cover that under your comprehensive coverage (low deductible).

Call your dealerships used car manager. He has certainly dealt with this in the past and can put you in touch with a vendor that can make the repair. If you have a $0 or a very low deductible, than go the insurance route, but get a quote for repair first if you carry a higher one.

You might check to see what an auto upholstery shop can do to 'fix' it. Even after getting it repaired, you could always get the top replaced or a hardtop, of course.

In Helm manual, there is a section that shows you how to repair a soft top using a patch. Don't really see why you would have to replace the entire top for a relatively small cut.
