Front subframe replacement

Front subframe replacement
Hello
Guys...
Long story short...I have to replace my front subframe....decided to DIY it...have every tools necessary to do the job... but do i need to remove the engine and gearbox first?? coxx.. the subframe is only tightened by 6 bolts on the bottom..
Is it ok to just raise up the engine slightly and place two jacks under the subframe then remove it?
Any inputs are welcome!!
