Yeah, provided they have a clue. My wife used to routinely run out of gas in her 325is because her car's onboard computer would tell her she still had 4 miles worth of fuel remaining.
After 3 burned up fuel pumps and endless "I told you so's", I finally convinced her to fill up when it got down to a 1/4 tank..
Well, that would be your wife's idiosyncracy, wouldn't it? And we're not talking about a computer that's dumber than a sack of hammers, are we? We're talking about a fuel gauge on an S2000 that errs on the side of caution, meaning when it says empty, it's still got a couple gallons left. You simply re-enforced my statement that it's better to "think" you're out of gas than it is to actually be out of gas.

a few weeks ago I saw an '06 run out of gas while the display still showed three bars.

I just use my trip meter in addition to my gas gauge. I get usually an average of 250 miles per 11-12.5 gallons.

I've never been close to completely empty. I'm sure I could get 300mi. to a tank, that's only ~22.7 mpg.

People have reported on trips getting 30mpg. That'd *almost* be 400 mptank!

I think this must be an anomoly. It may be a case of the float mechanism not being able to travel to its lowest point. Having seen the fuel pump/filter assembly, it's not difficult to see that it doesn't take much to impede the movement of that float mechanism. If it was slightly bent during installation, it could easily rub up against a stationary part.

It was after some very hard driving on the track, so that makes sense. It started cutting out in the turns and then died on the way back to town. When we added a gallon of gas, it started right up and ran fine.

It takes forever for my fuel meter to go down to the half way mark, but when it hits the 1/4 mark, it moves down REALLY fast.

Is this normal?
Its normal for all Honda's..

My fuel gauge will show like 4 bars left than jump to 5 bars and back to 4 bars after a couple minutes, this is all in highway driving.
