So, I stopped at a gas station by my house this morning to grab some chocolate milk for breakfast. After downing it quickly (I dont eat in the car) I got back in and backed-out, turning the wheel to the left. I know I was still half-asleep and not paying attention but I was quickly and rudely awakened by a sickening crunching sound when I started to move the car forward and to the right. The sudden rise of the front of the car was also an indicator that I had just done something really stupid! (Good thing I wasn't drinking that chocolate milk in the car. I'd have been wearing it)
Apparrently, I neglected to notice the cement median/island between my parking space and the next one and I drove up/over it

I backed up, cursing myself the whole time and I got out of the car. Still cursing myself for my stupidity and picturing a cracked front lip and possible undercarriage damage, I dropped down and took a look. To my surprise there wasn't a scratch on the car ! I checked underneath and I couldn't find a single indication that I had hit anything at all. The only evidence was the badly scraped up cement median, which was now a bit chipped up from the underside of my car.

So, I guess I got lucky. I'm really amazed that the paint didn't chip and the spoiler didn't crack or scratch. The worst I had to endure was the raised eyebrows from the other patrons who were filling up their cars. Its hard to look cool when you have just done something really stupid

Do you have any idea what did the damage to the curb? I would check it when you get home and change into some dirty clothes! Crawl underneath and get a good look just to be sure!

A few weeks after I picked up the car I was at a gas station filling up. After I took the nozzle out and put it away, just as I turn around I see the car starting to roll down the BIG hill the pumps were on. Lucky for me I had the top down, so I hopped over the door and yanked the brake handle up...it only rolled about a foot, but it was going to pick up speed VERY quickly. I'm hoping no one saw that If it had started to roll 2 seconds later, I would have been past the car to go inside, and the next thing I would have heard was <CRASH!> as the car either hit a car at the bottom or my car ended up in the deep drainage ditch.

I ALWAYS put the brake on now...out of habit.

ganthet, a similar experience happened to me about a year ago. i was attending the last day for a motorcycle safety program course and as i put my s in reverse, i accidentally backed into the stunt ramp used for jumps. the irony of the situation is that earilier, i had laughed at another student who did the same thing. as in your situation, i checked for damage and found not a single scratch or dent in the rear. i know the rear bumper is supposedly one of the stronger areas of a car but i was also surprised my stupidity left the s unscathed.

A few years ago, I went for a ride with a friend who had just bought an AC Cobra replica. We picked up the car and he realized it needed gas. He pulled into a station and starting pumping using the pop open filler on the side of the car. After standing there for a few minutes, one of the guys working yelled that there was gas running out from under the car. He stopped pumping and opened the trunk to see that there was a fuel cell in the trunk and the filler on the side of the car was a dummy. The gas was just running into the trunk (over the battery!) and onto the ground.

Had to be one of his more embarassing moments
