Garage Mishap
I had a mishap in the garage recently. The accident occurred directly after washing my car as I was maneuvering the car in the garage. Wet sandal = foot slipping off clutch, accidentally dumping clutch in first gear when the engine was in cold start warm up (2500 rpm instead of 1000 rpm idle). The result was the car surging forward 8 feet into a pole. The car even launched itself hard enough to put down dual 8" strips of rubber on the garage floor

Insurance is covering it but I'm quite upset as the bumper cover, fender, headlight, fender lining as well as numerous supports will have to be replaced. Additionally paint matching will have to be done on both the hood and passenger door. New OEM parts are being used but I'm very paranoid about how the car's appearance will be affected down the road. The fender was pushing into the wheel well to the point where the car had to be towed. Thankfully there was no frame damage or any damage under the hood.

I really feel like a dunce here.

Doh, that sucks. Don't feel too bad though as it happends. It has almost happened to me once or twice doing the same thing after a car wash!
Just keep on top of the repair shop and she should be like new before you know it!

Ouch... looks painful. Sorry for your loss, but I'm sure she'll be fixed up just fine.
Which body shop are you taking it to? I've taken mine to Apex Body Shop twice for front end damage and they've always done a spectacular job (Suzuka Blue is a tough color to get right).
Also, is yours the NFR AP2 I always see around Wolf Village around NC State?

I'm using Performance Auto Body in Cary. I went to them 2 years ago when I messed up my front bumper enough to warrant a repaint
They were recommended by Cary AutoPark Honda and I liked them enough to return.
As to Wolf Village, I'm not sure. Where exactly is that? I live in Trailwood Hills and thus can often be found driving down Avent Ferry, Western Blvd, Centennial Pkwy, Gorman Street, etc.

Sorry to see that.
Similar thing happened to my wife, but fortunately no real damage. She pulled the car in to the garage after washing it and discovered that wet brakes do not respond as well as dry ones. She now backs it part way down the drive way and dries the rotors before pulling in to the garage.

Ha! My wife did that except she drove through the garage door into my civic which was on jackstands.
The garage door was wood so I scabbed boards on to the back of it. It was heavy and wore out the opener... those were different times.

Once the car is restored back to its former glory, you should join us for our local monthly meets at Cars and Coffee! NFRs are somewhat under-represented
I've been aware of this possibility since owning my car. It has to do with the slick metal on the pedals in the S. I've even considered applying something to the pedals that would allow for a little more friction at my feet. A little rubberization could go a long way insuring a safer automobile IMO.
