Garage Mishap
I was thinking the same thing, I would have them just try painting it and see how well it comes out without blending. I would avoid blending as MUCH as I could so I could keep as much OEM paint as possible.
I've had friend repaint panels(wider fenders) on his car without blending and it came out great.
ooh man that sucks. every time I wash my car and I get back in again to drive it into the garage, I'm paranoid (not because of slippage), I just don't want to get my carpet wet, so I take off my shoes/sandals then drive it in. Anal yes..but I think after reading this, eep, I'm glad I do it.
I've painted several trunklids. There is some variance in NFR, so I recommend whomever does it, computer scans the paint.
No blending is required if you have a good painter who computer scans the paint, and blows out a test to confirm.
Sorry about the bash. Have a drink.

First I laughed a lot. Then after calling the insurance company I got pretty upset. I had no reason to go into the garage so I just tried to pretend it didn't happen. I also slept horribly that night and couldn't stop thinking about my poor S. When the tow truck drove off with my (otherwise spotless and clean) S2000 my eyes teared up.
I know an NFR owner that had to get some paint work done (came back after shopping to find a shopping cart had taken a chunk of paint out of the fender.) In certain light (such as sodium vapor parking lot lights) the repaired area looks orange compared to the factory paint. I've read, but haven't confirmed, that the clear coat Honda used has a blurish tint in it. So even if the paint matches exactly, if the right clear coat isn't used then the color won't match.
I almost did something similar - I swapped brake pads for a track day, but neglected to pump the brake pedal to get the new pads against the rotors. Driving slowly back into the garage, I had zero braking ability and the car didn't stop until I hit my motorcycle. Fortunately, it was at very low speed and the car nudged my motorcycle's frame slider. Neither the car nor the motorcycle was damaged in any way.
