Gas issues
jimbosr1: Fuel Tank Capacity, Approx, 13.2 gal
i pump about 10 gal every time i go to the gas station.
160miles divided by 10gals is 16mpg
p.s. i don't pump gas till the last little tick mark is gone and i can only fit from 9.7to 10.2.. funny or what.
SpudRacer: i call that bullshit too
JDMQuip: hahaha, well i am 19 and i like to take care of my car, unlike other 18 year olds on an s2k. I hate kids that careless who dont know how to drive. I dont need another tickets. lol. But vtec hits in good moments.
NNY S2k: No, I have been using shell 91 ever since i bought the car.

I have a 2001 s2k with 15k. I am not complaining on the fact that i am wasting more money on gas but i have a question
when i bought my s2k about 4 month ago, i use to get about 22mpg in the city.. now, i am getting about 16mpg without pusting my car
i usually shift around 3200-3800...
any ideas

I live in ''flat" florida. I've never EVER gotten less than 20mpg. I put 10.2 gallons in my car to top it off. My trip computer was at 265miles. I usually get around 280mi out of 10 gallons. I did a highway trip of 40miles with the top down and I let my buddy drive a few times on that last tank. I do about 70% city and 30% highway. My car is some sort of freak. I've got 100,000 miles on it and never had new plugs or a valve adjustment. I plan on doing that really soon.
P.S. I dont drive like a grandma. I hit vtec everytime I drive the damn car.

OP - i would take the above advice and get the car on a dyno with a wideband AF gauge to see how the car is running. that should give you an idea.
I'm not very mechanicaly inclined or know a whole lot about gas mileage, but how can our MPG vary so much? I hear some people claiming 30+mpg then others below 18mpg. I'm sure on both extremes it's from human fabrication in their posts. However, from what I've read in many posts, it still seems to vary between 22-28 for many people with similiar driving habits/conditions. I consistently get 25-26mpg and do about 60% city and 40% highway and have about 65k miles on my ap1. I'm sure I go into vtec at least 2-3 times a day also.

People keep saying they can get 40 mpg with their Fits. I average 27 mpg. When I took a freeway trip with it, I hit 34 mpg but that was also over a pass and such.
Onehots2k: i drive about 95% city on flat streets with no hills. And yes i do hit vtec but not all the time.
k24accord: Im going in to the dealer tomorrow. If they can not find anything, a dyno run will be my next bet.
y2ks2k: you said 2 different things. Explain

My 00 and 01 S2000 averaged 17mpg in city situations like you (not to much highway).
Mine has a lot to do with the fact that my daily commute is 4 miles one way and the cars never warm up or hit highways to get mpg.

that sounds weird...
also i don't believe ppl saying they get high 20's in the city. must live in a city that's all highway cause you will never get that high driving in nyc. 16 sounds way too low though...maybe try going on a all highway trip and see what you get...if you still get high 20's all highway then i dono ur car is really weird then

I hit well over 30... I think it was 35 (maybe 32) when I took a whole tank and wanted to see what the best I could do was. I took the highway and backroads with no traffic and was cruising at 55-60MPH the whole time, mostly on cruise. I did have the top down for part of it though.
I don't burn through a lot of tanks, but 25 is pretty normal for me. And I'm on a 2.2L AP2.
Others who are PUMPING THE VTAK can surely reach below 20.
