Those are funny. There is one right by my girlfriend's dormitory and everybod slows down to 25mph as FAST as they can when they see it.

on milwaukee freeways they sometimes just park a cruiser on the side of a road by an underpass. and they leave it there, unmanned. lol.

The reason is that the shorter final drive does 2 things to rev faster thru' each gear:

1). It provides more wheel torque from the same hp as we know it
2). the terminal speed of each gear is lower

Because of these, a 10%-shorter gear "appears" to rev thru' each gear 19% faster (0.9 x 0.9 = 0.81) even though it's only accelerating 10% faster in each gear. That's why it "feels" more than 22hp.

Plus, you don't have speedo correction, so probably you think you're going 11% faster than actual (until you do the calculations in your head).

Also you can think 11% at the crank so 240hp (or 238hp new rating) ~+26hp. I know that's the same as +22hp at the wheels, but it sounds better.
