I believe with my setup with DR's I could get into the 12's. I have raced several low 13 sec cars and some 12 sec cars and beat them, granted it was a 20 punch. I will not take the car to the track to find out though, I do not want to buy a new differential.

I get what your saying, but i mean, i've raced several cars like that.....trans ams and camaros that come with LS1(ss i think??), and ive won. Granted, not by a whole lot, and they usually had me at the start, but once my vtec turned on in 2nd i gained nearly all ground back, and i soared(ok, maybe not soared lol, but passed) them every time when it kicked in in 3'd, and it was ova fo sho after that. and that was with the top down, which is another factor that could turn the race 1 way or another. I also raced an older chevy nova 350 i believe it was, and took care of that business. But that race was REALLY quick because of traffic ahead and whatnot. Its all good, and im not trying to start a whats overall a better vehicle, LS1 powered car or s2k, cuz we all know the answer to that!!! Heh, and the LS1 car wouldnt be able to handle worth ANYTHING compared to the s2k as well, so thats another reason I'd take an s2k over the american doodoo any day

Besides all that, you can't really compare a LS1 spraying with an s2k. You also must consider the LS1 is a 5.7 and the s2k is 2.0(probably), so its got nearly three times the displacement and twice the cylinders. I'd also be willing to bet that the top speed of the s2k is higher than the LS1, unless you alter whatever governs it, as the top speed of the s2k is 161(from what i've heard/read), and i'd think that with the vtec, above about 110, the s2k would pull harder. I dont know though, because i havnt raced an LS1 to that fast(yet). What do you guys think?

You want to know what I think? I think the guys you've been racing either gave up after they beat you off the line, or they are the worst driver's in the world. In a straight line competition, there is no way an S2000 takes an LS1 equipped F-body, I just don't see it.

What is the obsession with shaving a second or so off the 1/4 mile times and spending lots of money, risking reliability and voiding the warranty when this car was clearly not designed to be a drag racer. I believe the car was designed to be reasonably quick which it is, but the real idea was to make it handle better than most vehicles in its class which it does. I'm convinced that most owners do not know how to drive the car to its limits without any mods. I am one of them and hope to learn more about the handling of this unique vehicle through qualified track instruction and practice. The drag strip is fun and I used to take my 66 GTO there reguarly. But the GTO was designed for that purpose. I would eat that goat alive on the twisties. No flaming, just an honest opinion. To each his own I guess.

i don't get it, why do people feel the need to flame on someone who decides to do something that you don't like or would recommend? like someone said, most of the cars at the drags weren't meant to be drag cars, but their out there every night doing what they love to do. yes the S wasn't meant for a drag car, WE ALL know that. It's his car and money so if that's what the guy wants to do then so be it. Either give him the advice on what he could do (minus the smart A$$ remarks) or don't post anything at all and move on, it's that simple.
i mean why didn't we just buy a F1 car and take that to the track?
either way were ALL in enthusiast's, let's just not bash a fellow member for wanting to go a different route on which the car was made for.
there's my .02 cents.

What are you reading? I don't see many, if any, flames toward the poster, just people throwing out opinions.
