To get in to the 12's
top speed is indeed irrelivant in drag racing. but for ur knowledge the LS1 powered cars have been clocked at over 161. The 2.0 and 2.2 in the s2 is a great engine, but i think taking it out of the realm to make it do a different task is always pushing the limits. I'm sure if u wanna dump the cash to have a 12 sec s2 then its prob not gonna be the easiest route. With the comment about a LS1 car and throwing the juice at it, it will no doubt run 12's but thats comparing apples to oranges. What I find disconcerting is the general assumption that the F-body, GTO, etc etc cant handle worth a damn. cmon now, we arent talking about a car with the sloppiest suspension setup in the world that handles like a pizza box with 4 wheels. We all can agree, driver is always a huge issue and many people have neither the talent or balls to take the cars to their tru limit. Good luck getting that car where u want it.

Thanks guys, I understand what everyone is saying. I guess my point that i was trying to get across was that in my opinion, the s2k is obviously the better car overall in my opinion(then again, i am on an s2k forum rather than a LS1 one), because the car is only slightly slower on the 1/4 mile, and it soars past the LS1's as far as handling, reliability, and gas milage stock s2k vs stock LS1. And i dont know where a drag racing came up, but i didnt mention it....and it was obvious that the LS1's i raced didnt give up, they stayed only slightly behind at speeds just under 100, and if they gave up right away, i dont think they'd just be cruising at 90-100 just for fun when they know i'm still racing heh. Doesnt really matter, i guess i was just tryin 2 say that if you want a well rounded car the s2k is the obvious choice over any LS1 in my opinion
I am not saying it can't be done, clearly it can. But are you prepared to deal with the obstacles along the way?
This has been echoed on the board over a thousand times. If you want a reliable 12 second car then buy something else. The S2000 is not a drag racer.
Who am I to comment on this topic? I have been battling with a turbo kit for over a year now. I believe things are finally running well. However, I am prepared for the FACT that the problems are not over.
Once you get the engine work complete you then need to move on to the differential. Countless owners have destroyed their diffs trying to make the S a drag racer. Numerous owners have lost their engines due to FI problems. Don't become a statistic.

Why knock on the guy if he is inspired to do something that you obviously dont agree with, and why do you bother posting on a topic that you obviously dont agree with, i just dont understand that. There are alot of cars that werent designed for drag racing that haul ass on the strip, the Supra, the Rx7, the Mr2, the Eclipse etc etc. I personally think this car could be easier to get into the 12's than alot of people think, once you get past the rear end of the car mainly, and a little more time, effort, brainstorming and collaboration of those that wish the car to do it. I mean damn, after some speculation on intake design I think there are some of us that concluded that the best intake for this car has yet to be designed. This car is only 4 years old now, so its basically still fresh meat and its not turbo'd so that makes for a harder obstacle to overcome but it is doable. It is a sports car, the same as the rest as the J-spec cars we love, why Honda made a weak ass differential in it is beyond me, as I personally think they should have made a stronger one. It should be able to take a beating but it is by far what I consider the cars weakest link and biggest holdback. Leave the guy alone and stop knocking him because he wants to do something to his car that you wouldnt, you never know he might be the first to make a big break-through for those of us that would like our s2000's hit the 12s reliably.
Your probably one of the guys who thought Civics and CRXs couldnt get into the 10s too.

First, I never said it couldn't be done (reread the first sentence of my last post). There are several S2000's that are already in the 12's.
Second, I never told him not to reach for his goal. I was simply providing information so he does the proper research and has an idea of the struggles others have encountered trying to mod this car. My comment about a reliable 12 second car is also very true. It is far less expensive to buy another car, especially one of the one's you mentioned, and have it reach 12's or lower.
As far as the rest of my post. Would you like to question me on the experiences I have gone through with my car? Take my information as caution. Oh, and try not to assume any tone with this post either. It seems to get you a bit worked up.
