Going to look at an S2000 CR
I was not expecting to like the CR because:
-The wing and front chin spoiler are pretty out there as far as my tastes go
-It's not a coupe, I've always been against drop tops because of the lack of rigidity
-Those seats are really the ugliest seats I've ever seen in a production car
What keeps drawing me back to it then? It's a race car
I've been obsessed with racing my whole life (and I mean sports car racing as a sport, not street racing which I want no part of). I like the idea of driving around in a race car, and that's what the CR is to me. Yes it looks goofey, and normally I would never drive a car with a wing like that... but that's what makes it more like a race car. The goofey aero bits are very functional and I can appreciate that. (These same reasons apply to why I would buy a Lotus Exige S if I could afford one, and yes I would daily drive it)
It is a shame that I would not be able to drive to work with the top off unless I want to park it with no top on...
Maybe you guys are right and I should get the rag top instead and save some money... but you can get a CR for a pretty good price these days. They're on autotrader and cars.com for ~$31-32k brand new...

Yes, it is a race car, but its 99% the same car as the regular S2000. You should drive both back to back and see the differences in action. Its a lot easier to add a wing and lip than to add a soft top.

uh, you can't simply slap parts on a s and make it a CR, there are quite a few differences that would make it less than cost effective project, including additional body bracing, parts removals and replacements. Audio and AC are available for the CR. With top off, the CR gives you a weight advantage along with all the additional handling, chassis, and aero improvements over the S. You can run the CR daily with the hardtop and experience a racing machine that outperforms the base, then for special occasions, take the top off for fun or for track sessions. The CR is truly a hardcore evolution of the S2000.
...not to mention, the steering ratio, shifter, tires, exhaust, alignment, among other things, are changed. Honda developed the CR as an evolution project, far different than "ricing" out an S2000.
