i sat in one at the dealership... its not really that bad. probably still more actual visible space than a normal S with the top up, since the glass rear on a hard top is so much larger.

No real issues with visability with the wing. In traffic on the road you hardly notice it. It is really only a 2-3 inch horizontal slice that is blocked and you can see below and above it just fine. No problem telling what is going on behind you. No real problems with it while backing up also.

I had this same question in June before I got my CR. I was going to get a regular s2000 and saw the CR and had to have it. I have a family connection with the dealer and was able to borrow a regular s2000 for a week and drive it just to make sure I wanted one period and loved it. Then drove to another dealer to test drive a CR they had in stock and loved it even more. I now have a blue Cr with no regrets (dealer traded for it) The CR is everything the regular one is and more. Yes the ride is stiffer but on good roads you don't mind it at all and on the curves well I would not trade it for anything. I am not a big top down guy so I don't mind the hard top at all since it stays on just about always. With the top off you got to love the speedster humps. Even though the sound insulation is removed the car is less noisy because of the hard top. The quicker steering is most noticable and a blast. The body is stiffer and more solid becuase of the of cross bracing and you really do notice it.( in a good way) I feel like I am driving a little indy car. I wasn't sure about the wing at first but in person it looks great and makes the car.
Do yourself a favor and drive both I think you will end up with the CR it is a blast. Pure raw sports car. Hope this helps
LOL You what's really funny is how much the CR vs base conversation reminds me of the base NSX vs Zanardi arguments people had. Now of course the Zanardi is considered to be one of the most desirable NSXs and still holds a premium. Same will hold true for the CR. If you drive both you just won't want the base. The car ids so awesome with the roof off I had it off for almost two months in the summer. Base S2K just doesn't look as good with the roof down.

I actually just took my track suspension out and put the OEM in and am surprised with how compliant it is. It's my DD and it's pretty comfortable and I would be considered old by this boards standards

I would LOVE to own a Zanardi NSX. I tried to negotiate a deal on one about 5 yrs. ago, but it didn't work out. My loss...

Go with the base S unless you can handle that gay a$$ wing, only Johnny Tran is cool enough to pull of that wing!
LOL

I still haven't made up my mind on the CR, but I would get one if I get could purchase at 1k more than the base (which seems possible these days on '08s).. would be worth it for the hard top alone....I would remove the wing, completely worthless unless you're driving at 100 mph on a track

as far as suspension, the base seems fairly well composed for street driving, just a bit "floaty" at speed in sweepers

The CR's wing was designed to be functional at any speed where wind effects come into play. It's part of what gives the CR its tremendous control at speeds over 30mph, which is about the speed where aerodynamics begin to effect a cars handling. It looks ricer in and of itself, but is a fully functional bit, not just at 100mph+

Even the lips in front of the front wheel wells come into play at speed. To test, just remove one of them and see what it does to your steering alignment at 35+

From Honda:
The CR's rear spoiler's unique design smooths airflow over the vehicle and helps to reduce lift by up to 70% when compared with the standard S2000.
