The CR's wing was designed to be functional at any speed where wind effects come into play. It's part of what gives the CR its tremendous control at speeds over 30mph, which is about the speed where aerodynamics begin to effect a cars handling. It looks ricer in and of itself, but is a fully functional bit, not just at 100mph+
You know a lot of people say the wing is "ricer" but in real life it's no more ricer than the 911 GT3 wing. Maybe because the fit and style is so well done. It doesn't look aftermarket at all. At least to me.

sorry to break the news to you, but you're not going to get any material downforce @ 30 mph. Don't count on that wing being much help while blazing turns in your neighborhood!

So the wing looks a little "ricer" but the S2000 is a Japanese sports car after all. Embrace it for what it is. It looks right on the car like craigers on a camaro or stipes on viper.

i love mine as a DD

i'm used to giving up mileage for traction (fun) since my motorcycles have always been 6-8K tires. the top is always on. looks cool.

good argument on going used, though. equally fun, i'm sure. i could have saved 10K on used but just didn't care in the end. you'll have to decide this one for yourself.

21 mpg is the only real argument against these cars.

My advice to you is to go find a pristine 03 or older. They are out there! Just be patient.. some with very low miles. Mine only had 45k when I picked it up. Got it for $12k. You seem like the kind of guy who would sacrifice a few ft/lbs to rev to 9k rpm . Considering how much less your payment would be (if any) just imagine how much more you could spend on mods + track time AP1 FTMFW! Mine doesn't even have a clock! suckers!

You only avg 21MPG

My CR has gotten the best fuel economy of all my S2K and I've had an AP1 and two AP2's. This is the first S2K I've had that regularly gets 300+ to the tank. I took it to VIR and was bummed on the way down that my MPG was only 27 MPG ,but I had a big rear diffuser on it. I took that off when I got home and my MPG went back up. Also what's your freeway speed? I've noticed that these things get better MPG if your doing between 75-80mph.

If your worried about milage and drag maybe you should consider a used insight or civic hybrid

how much downforce does that wing provide at 30 mph? let's see some science
Better yet, show me the track that you're going 30mph at. I know I won't be going that slow at most any road course in the world. Then again, I doubt your POS RX7 can go as fast as a CR anyway. Good argument any way.

Downforce at 30mph at todays' tire standards always show ignorance.
