got a bs ticket
There are a few owners that frequent this site that are in the policing profession. Please try to have a little respect for them and not group all officers into one category.
Thank you.
Thank you.
I agree with you guys about the police and their bogus tickets, however I do not believe it is all of them...in fact I love my local university police as they don't mind turning a blind eye to things that go on at a university at night (as long as you don't get in your car afterwards). However everyone has had their fair share police BS or know someone who has. The fact is that police have a somewhat powerful job (at least the power goes to their head because so many people fear them) and that tends to make them believe that they can do whatever the hell they want (when it's not). I can't name the number of times I've wanted to become a cop solely to prove i could do it better, but what can you do...mad props to the cool cops out there (an example) my buddy was driving a corvette on the turnpike...blew by a cop at 150+...he immidiately pulled over and put on his blinkers and waited for the cop. Cop was so happy that he didn't have to chase a vette at that speed or call for a spike strip that he gave him 85 in a 70...still 15 over but ALOT less than 80 over (more than twice the speed limit which makes it someother charge that i don't know the name of).
Ok, as others have stated "Not trying to be a dick or anything" but an off ramp you are suppose to slow down before entering. An on ramp is used to pick-up speed to match the cars on the highway, freeway, etc. An off ramp is the opposite. Sure sounds to me like you were going faster then you were suppose to. Let's do some logical thinking. If it was a sharp curve as you claim, then it probably had a recommend speed marker for it. Probably in the 20 to 30mph range. If you came around it fast enough where you had the remotest chance of actually rearending someone then guess what you were exiting at to great a speed. It's just all common sense. Is it a BS ticket? Sure about 10,000 people get BS tickets everyday. Did you deserve it? If he was doing his job then you probably did. Can you fight it? Why not? Will you win? Who knows. But let's not blame the cop for doing his job, you did screw up.
If you think all cops don't lie, especially regarding tickets, then you are hopelessly niave and uninformed.
Cops routinely claim to be able to visually estimate speeds of cars (a legal requirement) under conditions when it is not possible. How many times have you seen a cop giving out tickets at night, hiding in the dark. How many times have you seen cops hiding around a corner, or over a hill, or running moving radar under those circumstances? All of these circumstances are illegal for radar operation. How do I know? I read their training manuals. And I read case law.
Cops lie. They give out bogus tickets. The court system runs on ticket revenues. Don't give me the line about how it's only a few bad cops. I come from a family of cops. I know the culture and the system.
The guy came around a corner and came close to a cop as they were both slowing down. This does not meet the legal definition of following too close. If he gets the case law, statutes, and then the officers notes and incident report he may well be able to catch the cop in a lie. But at any rate, he was cited for following too close, not driving too fast for conditions. The cop gave him this ticket because he couldn't think of anything else he could give him. It's a BS ticket, but if the driver doesn't take this seriously and get busy, then he's just wasting our time and his too.

my experience with cops are not good
i have bad luck
i hate cops
cops doing their jobs do not make stupid ass charges
i got a racing ticket in my lexus suv just because some POS red gsr was speeding with me.
U think that was fair?
2 charges on one ticket
speeding and racing

i was found guilty of those charges since the judge believed the officer over me.
the ticket is erased from the system.
i dont know how dont ask
after that i lost faith in police officers
i might sound naive and stupid but
