CEL blinks when car is started

the CEL blinks like 5 or 6 times when i start the car, then it goes away.. Whats going on?

Is it the CEL or the maintenance required light?

dont mean to steal the tread but since it was mentioned ^^^ i have a blinking maint required light blinking for a brief 5 seconds when starting too, something i can fix on my own time or not?
