I came from owning an 90' Miata, to an MY04, and having driven the two, I would probably get my ass handed to me if I were driving my Miata against an S2000. Keep in mind, a stock S2000 vs my Miata with shock, springs, sways, and rollbar mods...

Miata = AWESOME CAR. I don't really care what people say about it, and any negative term said about it will make people wish they never had said it in the first place after seeing what it can do. Basically put, without my Miata, I wouldn't be the driver I am today. That thing MADE ME pull 101% of it's power out to school many drivers. Sure, it's not the fastest car out there, but when you get it up there, it gets going for such a small, lightweight car.

In many ways, I consider the S2000 to be a more luxurious roadster having many features my Miata didn't (power top, windows, a/c, ABS, HID, leather seats, "comfortable ride," etc), but then again, I didn't care or look for any of these features when looking for an very raw, affordable, ballsy sports car before my S2000.

Girly car, whatever. I'm down with that, especially when women complemented me on it. Simply put, would you rather have a car that attracts women, or males (as I had when I was driving a GT2).

The S2000 attracts both women AND male car enthusiasts from my experience. The women find it especially appealing...

I was at a stop light on Sunday, and a guy pulled up next to me and stuck his head out the window and told me he was thinking about buying a miata.. And would it be worth it to buy a used s2k instead, and if I liked my car.

My response was "depends if 100 more hp, better reliability, power top, and just being more sexxy is worth it to you"

You should have told him to ask his boyfriend first...

I think its funny that some people consider the Miata more of a sports car than the S2000 because it lacks power windows, power top, etc ...

The feeling I get from you guys is that if the technology is moving forward, then its not a sports car anymore.

If some of you guys were working in the computer industry, we'd probably still all be on manual typewriters. Its more raw, and you get a good feeling back from those keys

Not sure you can define how pure a sports car is by the definition of a sports car 50 years ago. Having power windows shouldn't automatically place you in a less pure sports car category. I mean at that rate, the tires we're using are probably not pure enough, having VTEC is cheating, and all of this X-Frame stuff is cheating too. Screw all the airbags and safety stuff that might save your life too. If you're driving a sports car, it should be made to kill you, right?

Don't understand how better technology makes something less of a sports car.

Not trying to say anything against the Miata, I think the Miata is a great car. Its one of the best priced RWD roadsters on the market. But if you're trying to justify the $10k price difference by saying the Miata is better because its more "pure", then thats total BS. Both cars are great, the S2000 in my opinion just does it better than the Miata, but of course at a cost in price. The '05 Boxster S does it better than the S2000 too ... But at a price as well. I'm betting a Ferrari probably does it better yet again ... I'm not saying price = better car, but in some cases you DO get what you pay for.

the miata has power windows, a/c, etc., but they keep coming out with versions that are stripped of all that stuff... calling it the sports or R version or something like that. I think that Honda even does that to some of it's models.

must be a reason why a manufacturer would go to the trouble of doing that if there wasn't a few people who think that it's MORE of a sports car.

They're track prepped cars. Like the Evo RS. The NSX Type-S Zero has a track prepped version too ...

I understand the added benefit of stripping stuff out for weight savings. It makes a better track car, but I wouldn't say that the Miata is more of a sports car simply because they make a track prepped version. Sports cars are meant to be driven on the roads ... track prepped cars are really intended to be used for racing on the track.

I still don't think that selling a track prepped version of your car makes it more of a sports car than another car.

The S2000 can do everything the Miata can but much better.
